Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, many medical research projects are funded by private companies. Previously, most of the medical research projects were funded by governments but currently the situation is totally changed. As government is not providing enough funds researchers have to seek for fund to continue their medical projects. As a result, nowadays most of the medical research projects are funded by private companies.
In my opinion, most of the medical research project should be carried by government only. I think government have the responsibility to fund the medical research projects. Medical is one of the most important factor in our society. There is many poor people who are not having enough money to go to the private hospitals. So, they are completely reliable on those government hospitals. Now if government is not funded medical research projects, then most of the new infrastructure and medical facilities will be available only in private hospitals. Most of the good doctors will be also working in private hospitals if they are not getting enough fund to work on their research projects from government. For this decision of government, most of the poor people will be suffering but the duty of government is to protect all type of people in society not only rich people but also poor people as well. As medical research is very crucial and critical thing for our society, government should pay more attention in this case and give enough fund to researchers to work in government provided hospitals and help all type of people.
As an example, i can say that i experienced this problem once while visiting government hospital. There was a very poor family crying in front of hospital stating that they were having an emergency patient but that person was not getting proper treatment because lack of proper infrastructure. That time i was aware that particular treatment facility was available in big private hospitals who are charging huge amount for this treatment. That time i was felling very helpless as that poor family was crying and if on that day government have proper facility they would not face such crisis.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that government funding is preferable. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you provide a personal anecdote, the argument could be strengthened by discussing the potential drawbacks of private funding (e.g., profit-driven research) or the benefits of government-led initiatives (e.g., public health focus) in more depth. The ideas are relevant, but the analysis remains at a surface level. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more sophisticated reasoning rather than relying primarily on personal experience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'As a result' and 'In my opinion,' to link your thoughts. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes repetitive or mechanical. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, and the flow between sentences occasionally feels disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between paragraphs would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive, with frequent use of basic terms like 'good,' 'important,' and 'money.' There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'seek for fund' (should be 'seek funding') and 'not having enough money' (could be 'lacking financial resources'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise, academic vocabulary related to the topic of medical research and public policy to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('government have the responsibility'), article usage ('the medical research'), and tense consistency ('if government have proper facility'). While these errors do not typically impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and article placement, and try to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures with greater accuracy to demonstrate better control over your grammar.
