Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a preference for government-funded research, but the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding cost-saving and international relations are somewhat superficial and lack specific, well-developed examples. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which prevents a full exploration of the topic. The conclusion is incomplete, further impacting the overall development of the position. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and ensure the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is often hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While some linking words like 'as a consequence' and 'in hence' (incorrect usage) are attempted, they are often used inaccurately or mechanically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words correctly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your main argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'repidely' for 'rapidly', 'facies' for 'face', and 'dill' for 'deal'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use more sophisticated or academic language appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay. Many phrases are awkward, such as 'medical things which needed for project experiment'. To improve, focus on learning collocations and academic vocabulary related to research and government policy, and proofread carefully to correct spelling and word-form errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'government have money'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'which was funded... had saved'), and sentence structure. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
