Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the prompt by discussing private companies and government, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. The conclusion is abrupt and incomplete, failing to synthesize the points made. Furthermore, the focus on 'trade production' and 'agriculture' in your examples is somewhat tangential to the core topic of 'medical research,' which suggests a misunderstanding of the specific context required by the prompt. To improve, ensure you fully explore your position and provide relevant, focused examples that directly relate to medical research.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, the logical progression of ideas is often hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are frequently missing or mechanical, such as 'One the other hand,' which is a misspelling. The paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the paragraphs do not flow smoothly, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in contrast' would help create a more cohesive text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'successful venture of business' instead of 'business success' and 'root out the themes' which is used incorrectly. Some terms are used in a way that obscures meaning, such as 'inquiry the major gaps.' While you attempt to use some topic-related vocabulary, the range is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. You should focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to convey your points effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the medical research'), subject-verb agreement ('enterprise should aims'), and preposition usage ('carried my private companies'). Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors that impede clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons and commas. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb forms, and reducing the frequency of errors that distract the reader.
