Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, the private companies have become the backbone of many medical research. Medical research requires a lot of money and that is unfair to put all the financial burden on one sector Taking . some people argue that it is responsibility of government. Taking both sides of argument in to consideration, I am of the opinion that a collaborative approach between private corporations and authorities is beneficial for public health.

To begin with, government funding can also provide free or low-cost healthcare services for the nation. Additionally, when authorities invests in biological projects, hospitals are also able to reduce cost of surgeries treatments and medicines. As a result people can easily receive medical care without worrying about expensive fees.

Another reason why governments should support medical research is that they are more likely to employ highly experienced medical experts. public hospitals have stricter standards and then with many years of experienced they able to attract skilled doctors. In contrast, many private hospitals may try to reduce costs by hiring less experienced staff. Consequently, patients are able to get more reliable treatment and recover more quickly. According to the several studies,

In conclusion, although private companies may contribute to medical research, I strongly believe that governments should play the leading role in funding and managing these projects because they can provide affordable healthcare and also employ highly skilled doctors.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of government and private funding in medical research. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. The argument is somewhat repetitive, and the conclusion mentions 'private companies' contributing to research, but this aspect is not sufficiently explored in the body paragraphs. The position is clear, but the lack of word count prevents a full development of the arguments. To improve, you must expand on your points with more specific examples and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'In contrast' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors and incomplete sentences, such as the trailing 'According to the several studies,' which ends abruptly. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the lack of depth due to the word count makes the overall structure feel slightly underdeveloped. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring all thoughts are completed will help improve your score in this area.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with terms like 'backbone', 'financial burden', and 'collaborative approach'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'authorities invests' (should be 'invest') and 'surgeries treatments'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there is a lack of more sophisticated or academic terminology that would elevate the response. To achieve a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and ensure that your word forms are consistently correct throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the private companies have become' (unnecessary article), 'it is responsibility of government' (missing article), and 'with many years of experienced they able to' (incorrect word form and missing verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the sentence fragment at the end of the second body paragraph. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and article usage to improve accuracy.
