Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary era, technology is evolving rapidly. The private companies, governments and organisations are investing in research and development, so that they can earn benefits from the outcomes. Among all researches and innovations, medical research projects are very capital intesive. In my opinion, it is much better to seek investments from government, rather than using companis fund.

To begin, there are various benefits of inviting government to invest in medical research projects because first of all, R&D in medical field requires large capital, and government can substantially help by providing free loans and grants. Furthermore, when government invest their reources in the project, it gets credibility and media coverage across the globe. In addition, there are many critical research programs which requires cordination with foreign companies or individuals, here government can provide diplomatic assistance and support to coordinate seamlessly.

Another key benefit is that it allows the scientists and researchers to use government's network and contacts. For example, last year India launched a moon mission, so many scientists and researchers from USA insisted the government of India to allow them to work with ISRO. This was only possible because of the good diplomatic relationship between these two countries. By taking investments from government, a company can invest their own capital in human resource management and a company can attract and train talented individuals. A company can allocate more money in daily operations and a company can expand its business by setting up new offices and manufacturing facilities.

Overall, medical research projects are one of the most capital intensive form of R&D. Thus, government backing is necessary for any company to grow further and to be a unicorn. Nowadays, so many private companies are filing patterns for their researches. So, to stay ahed of the competition, it is very important to take the investments from government and work closely with them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear preference for government funding. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide reasons for government involvement, the connection to medical research is occasionally lost, particularly in the third paragraph where the example of the moon mission is used. This example is not directly relevant to medical research, which weakens the argument. To improve, ensure that every example provided directly supports the specific context of medical innovation. The position is consistent, but the argument could be more thoroughly extended by contrasting government funding with the potential drawbacks of private funding more explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the progression between the second and third paragraphs is a bit abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow could be improved by using more sophisticated linking phrases that connect the ideas more fluidly rather than relying on standard list-like transitions. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'capital intensive', 'diplomatic assistance', and 'credibility'. However, there are some spelling errors ('intesive', 'companis', 'reources', 'ahed') and minor collocation issues that slightly detract from the professional tone. To reach a higher band, focus on using less common lexical items with greater precision and ensure accuracy in spelling. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and sophisticated control required for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('many critical research programs which requires', 'government invest their reources') and article usage errors ('the government of India', 'the private companies'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure could be more varied to improve the flow. The errors present do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
