Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern world, it is often debated whether medical research projects should be carried out by private companies, peoples or authorities. I personally believe that these research completely handled by government, in this way no one can bias these delicate projects.
The main reason why i support this view is that the medical research should be for people benefit and not to earn money from these needy people who are battling with illness. The only way to take it under control this is if government fund these medical research otherwise the private companies might misuse it for their personal scope. A pertinent example of this is coronavirus vaccine, that was completely funded by some big companies such as Pfizer or Moderna and they earned a huge amount of money from these vaccines, thereby earning a significant wealth in difficult time for everyone, if government should have funded to this project of coronavirus vaccine . they might have used some more time to discover something with less side effects.
Furthermore, another crucial factor to consider is how these research are biased by this wealthy people, they make funding only in those research where they could get more benefit regarding others which could benefit for society. For instance, no big company think about rare diseases where medical evidences are lack and also the means to find diagnosis as soon as possible to commence the treatment because these reserach could not help these wealthier people to fill their bank vaults. The government need to check these companies or people who carry out these research and implement laws regarding which studies could be done in some specific areas.
In conclusion, the private companies and others can use their resources to fund

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that government funding is preferable. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide a relevant argument regarding the profit-driven nature of private companies, the essay ends abruptly mid-sentence in the conclusion, which means the final part of your argument is not fully developed. To reach a higher band, ensure that all paragraphs are complete and that your conclusion effectively synthesizes your main points rather than trailing off. The example of the coronavirus vaccine is relevant, but the explanation of how government funding would have led to fewer side effects is speculative and could be more logically grounded.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'For instance' to link ideas. However, the abrupt ending in the conclusion significantly impacts the overall coherence of the piece. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. To improve, focus on ensuring that each paragraph has a clear concluding sentence and that your final paragraph is fully written out to provide a sense of closure to the reader.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'bias', 'pertinent', and 'commence'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'peoples' instead of 'individuals', 'personal scope' instead of 'personal gain', and 'medical evidences are lack' instead of 'there is a lack of medical evidence'. These errors do not generally impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your argument. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'these research are biased') and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'if government should have funded to this project'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and run-on sentences. While these errors rarely make the meaning unclear, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and preposition usage.
