Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, mostly medical research projects are funded by private companies . I strongly agree that government should provide funds for medical research but also individuals or private companies can pay for this if it is eligible . I give reasons for my opinion.
On the one hand , I think state should provide money for health projects the reason is that state is responsible health issues not private companies . Moreover, the other reason is that private treatment is very expensive . For example , if a person is suffering in a heart disease and he is not well settled so private treatment is very expansive as compare to government . State should invest in medical projects because there treatment is much cheaper than private treatment .
Furthermore, private sectors take a lot of money for treatment but they can take part in donations . For instance , if a person have very high income or well settled and he ruins his own hospital so he can help poor or needy people by providing a better treatment .In addition to, if a person have heart problem and he cannot afford surgery so private companies sponsored him by providing money .
In conclusion , I think government should be responsible for medical projects and state treatment are cheaper than private . However, if private industries and residents are eligible so he can also take part in medical research by donating funds . In my point of view, i strongly agree that state provide funds for research and also private institutions can take part .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the roles of government, private companies, and individuals in medical research. However, the development is limited. The arguments regarding why the government should fund research are somewhat repetitive, focusing more on the cost of treatment rather than the nature of research itself. The distinction between 'research' and 'treatment' is blurred throughout the essay, which weakens the focus. While a clear position is stated, the supporting ideas are underdeveloped and lack depth. To improve, you should focus on the specific benefits and drawbacks of each funding source regarding scientific innovation, ethics, and accessibility, rather than focusing primarily on hospital treatment costs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. While cohesive devices like 'On the one hand,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' are used, they are sometimes applied mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'In addition to, if a person have...'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the final paragraph where the pronoun 'he' is used to refer to 'private industries and residents'. The flow of ideas is somewhat disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument's development smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'well settled' (used twice), 'ruins his own hospital' (likely meant 'runs'), and 'expansive' instead of 'expensive'. The repetition of basic terms like 'money,' 'treatment,' and 'medical projects' limits the lexical variety. To achieve a higher score, you should work on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context to convey meaning accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('if a person have', 'state provide funds'), article usage ('the state', 'a heart disease'), and tense consistency. There are also errors in sentence construction, such as 'if a person is suffering in a heart disease' (should be 'from'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence structure and proofreading for common grammatical slips would be beneficial.
