IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Nowadays, many medical research projects are funded by private companies. In your opinion, do you think that research should be carried by private companies, individuals or government?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
This days many medical research projects are financially supported by private comph anies.
The medical research projects like research on medicines, analysis of diseases or search for the cure of diseases are mostly funded by private sectors because they use to pay much better than the government or individual companies.
The private companies spend on researches and introduces new medicines or information for students for which they charge more than other sectors and they provide better quality of required medicines and genuine information which the government and individual sectors some time's fail to provide.
To overcome this the individual sectors and government companies should improve them self and use good strategies for better solutions so they can support medical research properly , the medical researchers should also contribute with the government sectors to provide medical facilities at the lowest prices.
while the medical researchers has to keep eye on their funding sectors ,by seeing which company is selling their solution in better prices to people, like if there is medicine which is research by medical researchers which is funded by any sector and in how much cost those sector is selling that medicine if it's high the medical researchers should not corporate with them.
in my opinion, i would prefer that the government sectors should support medical research projects and make the medical facilities easy for the people.
In conclusion, all the sectors can fund the medical research projects and can help in research more and more for best medical facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of private companies, government, and individuals in funding medical research. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you state a preference for government funding, the reasoning is somewhat repetitive and lacks specific, concrete examples to support your arguments. The argument regarding researchers 'keeping an eye on funding sectors' is a bit vague and could be better explained with a real-world scenario. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-supported idea rather than repeating the general need for better facilities.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often mechanical. You rely on basic transitions like 'To overcome this' and 'In conclusion', but the logical progression within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition between the role of private companies and the suggestion for government improvement is abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'To overcome this the individual sectors and government companies should improve them self', where the antecedent for 'this' is not explicitly defined. More varied cohesive devices would improve the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You use basic terms like 'good strategies', 'better solutions', and 'better quality' repeatedly. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'comph anies' (companies), 'them self' (themselves), and 'corporate' (cooperate). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to medical research and economics, such as 'public-private partnerships', 'financial allocation', or 'ethical oversight'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the medical researchers has to keep eye'), incorrect pluralisation ('some time's'), and awkward sentence construction ('if there is medicine which is research by medical researchers'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and verb tenses would be highly beneficial.
