Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contemporary world many people argue that medical research projects are funded by private organisations while others believe it to be handle by individuals or government. However in my opinion medical research should be funded by government.

There are multiple advantages associated with funding by goverment like verification, rules and regulations growth in GDP.

Firstly verification is an crucial factor for a project as it would be verified by goverment there will be no scam or less chances of failure. For example safari park animals medical research project is fully verified by goverment so animals are less likely to be exploid. Thus this advantage can labelled as leading benefit to this project.

Secondly apart from first advantage rules and regulation also play an essential role to finish the project easily and effectively. For instance pakistan research authority have strickt rule and regulation to which they follow consistently and make there project research secured and valuable. Hence this advantage can give a positive support to concept of funding by goverment.

Ultimately this development also contribute Growth in Gross domestic production as the goverment will launch or finish a medical research project it will provide business or revenue to country leading as beneficial for this development.

To sum up medical research projects are funded by many organisations but in my opinion it should be funded by government due to which it will be more verified and proper rules and regulations will be followed for security it also contribute in GDP of country for future benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that government funding is preferable. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding 'verification' and 'rules and regulations' are repetitive and lack depth. The example provided about 'safari park animals' is somewhat tangential to the core topic of medical research. While the essay covers the requirements, the supporting points are underdeveloped, and the reasoning remains superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, logical explanations for why government funding is superior to private investment, perhaps by discussing the conflict between profit-seeking and public health priorities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Ultimately'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between ideas feels abrupt. For example, the link between 'rules and regulations' and the 'Pakistan research authority' example is not fully explained. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the logical progression of your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. There are several spelling errors, such as 'goverment' (repeatedly), 'exploid', and 'strickt'. The word choice is often basic, and some phrases are awkward, such as 'can labelled as leading benefit'. You rely on a limited set of functional words. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensure you proofread for basic spelling accuracy, as these errors distract from the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'rules and regulation also play'), missing articles (e.g., 'contribute Growth in Gross domestic production'), and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'it to be handle'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with missing commas after introductory phrases. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement.
