Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address the prompt effectively. The task asks for an opinion on whether medical research should be funded by private companies, individuals, or the government. Instead of providing a structured argument, the essay is written as a narrative about a conversation with a friend. The ideas presented, such as the specific financial details of a 'M.b.din research center,' are irrelevant and do not contribute to a coherent discussion of the topic. The position is not clearly developed or supported with logical reasoning, and the response lacks the formal tone required for an Academic Task 2 essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The narrative structure makes it difficult to follow the writer's argument. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as 'First of all' and 'Second of all,' which do not effectively link the ideas. The referencing is unclear, and the overall flow of the essay is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to identify the main points or the writer's stance on the issue.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The writer relies on basic words and phrases, such as 'got a job,' 'medical researches,' and 'different places.' There is a lack of precision and a failure to use academic or topic-specific vocabulary related to medical research or funding models. Errors in word choice, such as 'I cannot have an experience' instead of 'I do not have experience,' are frequent and occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammar is highly inaccurate throughout the text. There are persistent errors in verb tense ('my friend can got a job'), subject-verb agreement ('private companies is to interested'), and article usage ('the government is not interested in the medical researches'). The sentence structures are simple and often contain errors that distort the meaning. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures, and the frequent grammatical mistakes make the text difficult to read and understand.
