Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, many medical research are funded my private companies some people believe that they should be funded by private companies while, other argues that it is the responsibility of government to take the responsibility of funding but private companies and individuals can also play their role in funding.
Firstly, the government have to take the whole responsibility in funding because their main role is to protect public health.the government should provide appropriate amount to the medical research departments to make better facilities for the public .for example, government should provide funds to the department for the research of cancer and heart disease.government funded research can also focus on the research that are not fulfil by the low profitable private companies.
secondly, private companies also plays a big role in funding research it may provide better equipment and advance technology for the research.they also have a huge amount of skilled workers with a large ratio of money so,It could be helpful in making of new medicines and advanced equipment more easily and quickly.
individuals can also play a big part in funding medical research such as, doctors and scientist can contribute their ideas and make important discoveries for example scientist may develop a new way of treating disease by their research.however, individuals don't have enough money so they need support from the government and private companies.
In my opinion, government funding should be raised and government should take the leading role in medical research because its main aim is to protect public health but, private companies and individual can also support it giving their new ideas and technology as well as money.for example, government could give money to researchers for treatment of cancer even when the treatments are not financially attractive to private companies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the roles of the government, private companies, and individuals in medical research. You have a clear position that the government should take the lead, which is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention that private companies provide 'better equipment,' this point could be extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the trade-offs involved. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but the overall depth of argumentation is consistent with a band 6 level, as some points are stated rather than fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific stakeholder. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly,' 'secondly,' and 'however' to signal transitions. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical errors in punctuation and spacing, such as missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'Nowadays, many', 'companies.for'). Additionally, the use of referencing is sometimes repetitive, and the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion needs more variety and precision to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'medical research,' 'public health,' and 'advanced equipment.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'large ratio of money' instead of 'significant financial resources' or 'not fulfil' instead of 'not fulfilled.' To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'government have to take', 'private companies also plays'), missing articles, and significant punctuation errors, such as failing to capitalize the first letter of sentences and missing spaces after punctuation marks. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To achieve a higher score, you need to focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence boundary control.
