Student answer (Band 5.0)
nowadays, in a modern societies, the medical field has been achieving great progress through medical research projects. therefore, many private companies compete to fund these projects. many ongoing debate is taken whether such projects should be carried by private companies or government should run.
to begin with, medical research is a crucial part of our modern society, due to this it does not matter if it is carried by individuals or private companies or government, as long as its aims to make great progress in uncovering cures for diseases and improves people well-being. In addition, when medical research is conducted by government or private companies. There will be individual is working on these projects , thus we can assumed that it has no huge difference between who should carry. Especially when enough funding from each party . Another point in this case, even when a company conducts the research there will be always the name of government from where it comes. For instance, in china there are lot of companies and laboratories who conduct substantial researches in many medical fields. However, we never knew about these companies. The only information we acquire is that the government of china is progress. The same method applies in all the countries. furthermore, many individuals didn't know the name of the scientist who performed the research.
At last, i believe that medical research should focus on the progress and the achievement, and future researches instead of arguing on the owner of the projects and researchers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but lacks depth in its argumentation. While you state that it does not matter who funds research as long as progress is made, you do not explore the potential downsides of private funding (e.g., profit-driven motives vs. public health) or the benefits of government oversight. The ideas are somewhat repetitive, focusing on the idea that 'it does not matter' rather than providing a balanced analysis of the three options provided (private, individual, government). To improve, you should dedicate specific paragraphs to the advantages and disadvantages of each funding source to demonstrate a more comprehensive understanding of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. Transitions like 'to begin with' and 'furthermore' are used, but the connections between sentences are often disjointed. For example, the shift from discussing the government's role to the example of China is abrupt and lacks a clear link to the main argument. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'the government of china is progress,' which is grammatically confusing and disrupts the flow of ideas. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. You rely on simple phrasing, such as 'great progress' and 'huge difference,' which are repetitive. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'many ongoing debate is taken' (should be 'there is an ongoing debate') and 'uncovering cures' (while understandable, 'developing treatments' or 'finding cures' is more natural). To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('many ongoing debate is taken'), article usage ('in a modern societies'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'There will be individual is working on these projects'). Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, which makes the text difficult to follow. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures; to improve, you should practice incorporating complex sentences with subordinate clauses and ensure you proofread for basic errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
