Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent times, it has been observed that huge health-based research projects are funded by private entities. Despite the fact that such carryout can also be funded by individuals or government. I strongly agree that many medical research projects are funded by government institutions. To support this, government normally funds clinical development and supporting basic science.

To commence with government fundings mostly coverers pharmaceutical trials, and biotech research-based programs. For instance, the government of Rwanda provide massive monetary funds to public health care organizations and some private-based also. As a result, funding clinical development can be beneficial to the public as it provides innovation in health industry and introduction of new drugs and so on. Therefore, medical funds should be provided by government to support creativity and credibility in medical care industry.

Another perspective that cannot be denied is supporting basic science project by allowing professionals and skilled medical doctors to conduct research without bias or lack of basic equipment. For example, the government of China provide funds to support technological advancement in health care science. Consequently, it is essential for improvement of basic medical science by funds that are provided by government. Therefore, medical research projects must be funded by government to boost the growth of science-based development.

In conclusion, Nowadays, the most medical research research must be funded by government as this would be flexible as well as allowing any individual hospitals or medical care organization to develop its research projects and allowing innovation, creativity and technological advancement in the health industry.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the government should fund medical research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. While you provide examples from Rwanda and China, the explanation of why government funding is superior to private or individual funding is limited. The arguments focus heavily on the benefits of funding itself rather than comparing the three options requested. To reach a higher band, ensure you explicitly address why private companies or individuals might be less suitable or how they compare to government-led initiatives, providing more depth to your reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To commence with government fundings mostly coverers'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will help improve the overall cohesion of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'biotech', 'clinical development', and 'technological advancement'. However, there are instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'such carryout' (which is not standard usage) and 'massive monetary funds'. Some phrasing is repetitive, particularly the use of 'funds' and 'funded'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and enhance the sophistication of your expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('government of Rwanda provide', 'government of China provide') and tense/form errors ('mostly coverers'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some sentence fragments, such as 'Despite the fact that such carryout can also be funded by individuals or government.' Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring all sentences are complete, grammatically correct units will significantly improve your score.
