Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is a considerable debate about whether medical research projects should be carried by private companies or government. In my opinion, the research projects in medical departments should be carried by government authorities. In this essay i will discuss the reasons of my perspective.

Firstly, if medical researches and thesis projects are supported by government universities and research institutions it can lead to economic growth indirectly. The research through government platforms will certainly increase the publications of young adults and the prosperity will be rise in the world due to high numbers of research papers. Although the young researchers number will increase from inside the country, but the international aspirants will also increase. Due to increase in international students the economy will ultimately grow. for example, because of extreme research environment in the china's universities the government has been profited. Consequently, the government can get a significant amount of rise in benefits by providing the laboratories and research equipments to adults.

Secondly, Through government provided labs, the students can get a valuable hands-on experience on merit in a country, rather than the references by blood relations. if a poor graduate without any references wants to pursue a career in life these authorities can offer a fair an d reliable atmosphere for them to get experience. For instance, if a government universities had a modernized labs with chemicals for research for chemistry students it can let them increase their skills in research.

In conclusion, Government ought to have numerous research organizations for research experiences for young adults. It can be proved a great step in a country as campared to private ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of government-funded research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention economic growth and meritocracy, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the reference to China is vague and does not clearly explain how government funding specifically leads to the benefits mentioned. The response covers the main parts of the task, but the reasoning remains superficial, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with logical steps and concrete illustrations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Although the young researchers number will increase from inside the country, but the international aspirants will also increase'. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth flow, making the progression feel a bit disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help elevate your score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prosperity', 'aspirants', and 'modernized'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'prosperity will be rise' (should be 'will rise') and 'extreme research environment' (a more natural choice would be 'rigorous research environment'). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the vocabulary is generally functional rather than sophisticated. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the china's universities'), subject-verb agreement ('the young researchers number will increase'), and punctuation ('an d'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'It can be proved a great step'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your control over complex sentence structures.
