Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent times, a significant portion of medical research is financedby comerical enterprises. while some argue that funding rely on public authorities or individuals. I believe that medical objectives are most effectively achieve through public and private sector by patnership and having bond with each others.

On the one hand, governments funding gurantees that medical research is essential for public welfare and health facilities. When state authories manage medical funding, the primary objective is solve urgent public health crises rather than focus on financial profits. For instance, in pakistan institutioins are more likely to publish unbaised clinical results, whereas private corporation might not publish irrelevant results because their market value should drop if they share.

On the other hand, private corporations and wealthy individual can bring financial power and efficiency to medical science. Developing new drugs require billion of dollar to create the medicine, although require to much effort from scientists to compete their product in market. Private companis relies on having good image of their products, while spending fundings on research of different products. For example, GETZ pharma introduce a new product known as ozempic, many private firms and wealthy individuals invests in this beacuse this is a weight lose medicine by GETZ parma. Many firm stars in India use this medicine for weight losing and look smarter.

In conclusion, I believe that many researchs are funded by private organizations or wealthy individuals, beacuse these comapanies invest in medical science and a new product development rather than solving urgent public health crises.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both government and private funding. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the argument for government funding is clear, the section on private companies is weakened by irrelevant examples, such as the mention of 'weight loss' and 'looking smarter', which do not relate to the core issue of medical research ethics or efficacy. The conclusion also contradicts the introduction by suggesting private funding is primarily for product development rather than public health, without reconciling this with the initial stance. To improve, ensure that every example directly supports your central argument and maintain a consistent position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'although require to much effort' is grammatically incorrect and does not effectively link the ideas. Additionally, some sentences lack logical flow, such as the transition between the discussion of drug costs and the specific example of a weight-loss product. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the logical progression between the body paragraphs and the conclusion could be more seamless to ensure a more cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'comerical', 'patnership', 'gurantees', and 'unbaised'. Furthermore, word choice is occasionally awkward or imprecise, such as 'having bond with each others' or 'many firm stars in India'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'clinical results' and 'public welfare', the frequent spelling mistakes and limited range of sophisticated collocations restrict the score. Focusing on accurate spelling and learning topic-related academic phrases would significantly improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('private companis relies'), article usage, and incorrect verb forms ('most effectively achieve' instead of 'achieved'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement and sentence fragments. While the meaning is generally understandable, the persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for subject-verb agreement and tense consistency is essential.
