Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a preference for private companies over government-funded research. However, the development of ideas is significantly hindered by unclear expression and a lack of logical support. While the writer attempts to compare private and government sectors, the arguments are repetitive and lack specific examples or depth. The position is clear, but the supporting points are often abstract or difficult to follow, such as the mention of 'hardness is important ourlife'. To improve, the writer needs to provide concrete examples of medical research projects and explain the benefits or drawbacks of different funding models more clearly and logically.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure of these paragraphs is weak. The progression of ideas is often disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often misused or placed awkwardly, such as 'If constrary the government facilities is slowly'. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the relationship between sentences is often confusing. The essay lacks a logical flow, and the transition between the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion is mechanical rather than natural. More attention should be paid to using linking words correctly to connect ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary range is very limited and often inaccurate. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'projectly work', 'abseat', and 'sink'. The writer struggles to express complex ideas due to a lack of appropriate terminology related to the topic of medical research. Many words are used incorrectly, which often impedes communication. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary and common collocations, as well as improving basic spelling and word formation to ensure that the intended meaning is conveyed clearly to the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammatical range is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences that are frequently marred by errors. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement, tense usage, and sentence structure, such as 'the mostly people can follow in this way to time is not waste'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and many sentences are grammatically incomplete or incoherent. The frequency of errors is high, which often causes difficulty for the reader in understanding the intended message. The writer should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb forms and word order, before attempting more complex structures.
