Student answer (Band 5.5)

Medical researches are helping the world to find new cures for the diseases and to grow more in the terms of finding new information .Many people do the research for the medical where the invest a lots of things like, skilled researcher, new advance technologies, time, and most important are the funds.

To get the fund and carry out the research perfectly, people are getting funded by the private sectors to do the research. Many big companies are investing their money or funds on this research to find out new technologies or to get any critical information that can help them to stand out and also help the country to be rewarded.

In my opinion, the funding should be provided by the private sectors because a individual sometimes cant afford the funded needed to carry out something. Government can also fund for the research but they can be not participating or showing much interest in the work, whereas in private sector you can have help for the funds, technologies or any other things because private sector wont be limited to do something whereas government need to answer the repocations of the researched if fails. Giving an example, if a number of student are doing some kind of medical research they should try to contact their university to raise fund for them, if the university agreed then the researched could have the demanded funds also some experts to help them in the process by providing guidance.

To summarize these, research carries out by private sector would be more promising, accurate and detailed than that of government or individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear preference for private funding. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that private companies have more resources and are less restricted than the government, the argument could be strengthened by discussing potential drawbacks, such as the conflict of interest when profit motives influence medical outcomes. The example regarding university students is slightly tangential to the main debate about private versus government funding. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more nuanced exploration of the implications of your chosen position rather than just stating the benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In my opinion', 'whereas', and 'To summarize these'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing private companies to the example of university students lacks a smooth logical bridge. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'the researched' to refer to the people conducting the research, which creates confusion for the reader. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'medical researches' (research is an uncountable noun), 'grow more in the terms of', and 'answer the repocations' (likely a misspelling of repercussions). While you successfully use terms like 'invest', 'technologies', and 'critical information', the range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensure that you use nouns in their correct form (e.g., 'research' instead of 'researches').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a individual sometimes cant afford'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'the researched could have the demanded funds'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and pluralization would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
