Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, which severely limits the development of your ideas. While you have identified a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or depth. For instance, you mention that private companies are 'more efficient' and that individuals are 'more competent,' but you do not provide any evidence or logical explanation to support these claims. To improve, you must expand on your points with concrete examples and ensure you address all parts of the prompt in greater detail to meet the minimum length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into three short paragraphs, which is a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is limited by the brevity of the text. You use some cohesive devices like 'However' and 'On the other hand,' but the transitions between sentences feel somewhat mechanical. The lack of sufficient content makes it difficult to demonstrate a range of cohesive devices. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that flow logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. You rely on simple phrasing such as 'a good thing' and 'get financial benefits.' There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'lesser the burden' instead of 'lessening the burden' or 'reduce the burden.' To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and academic collocations related to the topic of research and funding.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are several grammatical errors throughout the text that affect clarity. For example, 'i agree' should be capitalized, and 'many researches' is incorrect as 'research' is an uncountable noun. You also have sentence fragments, such as 'Which results in lesser the burden,' which should be connected to the previous sentence. While you attempt some complex structures, the frequency of errors is noticeable. Focus on subject-verb agreement, proper capitalization, and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb.
