Student answer (Band 5.0)

Most of the medical reserch projects are supported by private companies. In my opinion it should be carried out by individuals or goverment not by privately owend companies.

I belive companies are money hungry saviges that will go to any extent or try any under handed tactics that can help them make money. Their are many instence where we can see a certain agenda is being pushed by the farma industry, Later on when ever the independent or goverment funded reserch has been done only then the truth comes out, one recent example is ozempic sold as a some merical drug for weight loss but later found out horribal empact it has on human body.

When ever a study is done privately or by goverment, where fundes are not a problem it has proven to help the socity for the better. A research study may require sometime a large amount of money, this is why i belive the goverment should support the reserchers so that they do not have to depend on these private companies, because i this when the resercher accepts money from private companies they can intefer with the out come . One of my profecer who had a PHD in reserch once told who ever payes for the reserch you can expect that the result will be in their favour unless it is a independent reserch. For example people are now finding out that cancer is bassicaly a paracite and behavers like one and can be killed like one also.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion that government or independent research is preferable to private funding. However, the development of ideas is limited. The argument relies on generalizations, such as labeling companies as 'money hungry saviges,' and the example regarding Ozempic is not fully explained in terms of its relevance to the broader research funding debate. The final point about cancer being a 'paracite' is scientifically unsubstantiated and lacks a clear connection to the prompt's core question about funding sources. To improve, you should provide more balanced, evidence-based arguments and ensure examples directly support your central thesis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'one recent example' and 'for example,' the transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt. The logical progression is hindered by the lack of clear topic sentences and the sudden shift to the cancer example at the end, which feels disconnected from the previous paragraph's focus on government funding. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs needs more careful planning to ensure that each sentence builds logically upon the last.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors that occasionally impede readability, such as 'reserch' (research), 'goverment' (government), 'farma' (pharma), 'instence' (instance), 'profecer' (professor), and 'bassicaly' (basically). The word choice is often informal or imprecise, such as 'money hungry saviges' and 'horribal empact.' While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'independent research,' the overall range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. Focusing on accurate spelling and using more formal, academic terminology would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Their are many instence'), punctuation errors (missing commas and incorrect capitalization), and sentence fragments. The sentence structures are predominantly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity, such as 'because i this when the resercher accepts money.' These errors are frequent and sometimes make it difficult for the reader to follow your intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, correct verb tenses, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect word forms.
