Student answer (Band 4.0)
Today's world, transportation system plays a crucial role in our daily life. Administration should provide enough budget on railways rather than roads. I partly agree with the statement because both has several drawbacks. In this essay, I will discuss about negative side of railways and roads system.
One the one hand, Railways has various types of lacking including facilities. There are some different types of facilities problems such as bad rail line, delay schedule and unclean indoor space. This is primarily because the railway authorities can not focuses these areas. That's why, passengers are suffering when they travel and it decreases their intension to travel journey in future by train. For instance, a recent study conducted by Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, a renowned social researcher of Dhaka University, revealed that around 25% passengers loss their intension by travel a train journey in near future.
One the other hand, lack of wide and broken road is a important disadvantages of roads. As a result, regular accident occurs people life in danger, which is responsible for general people health injury. On account of broken road usually passengers journey could not suitable or comfortable. From my own experience, I meet a road accident due to bad and broken roads, when i was riding my bike. It happens major injury, which take 2 months of recovery time.
In conclusion, not only railways system, but also roads has demerits, which suffers general people and passengers. Governments should take proper step to maintain a good quality system and spend money on both railways and roads.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 1.0
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks for an opinion on who should fund medical research (private companies, individuals, or government), but the essay discusses the transportation system, specifically railways and roads. Because the response fails to address the task question entirely, it cannot be assessed on the development of ideas related to the prompt. According to IELTS criteria, a response that is off-topic must be penalised heavily in Task Achievement, as it does not address the requirements of the task at all.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion'. However, the logical progression is undermined by the fact that the content is irrelevant to the prompt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. While the structure follows the basic format of an essay, the lack of relevance to the topic makes the coherence difficult to follow in a meaningful way.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'intension to travel journey' instead of 'intention to travel' and 'loss their intension' instead of 'lose their intention'. The student struggles to use precise language, often relying on basic descriptors like 'bad' or 'different types of'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively, and the errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding of the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that often cause difficulty for the reader. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement ('railways has', 'roads has'), article usage ('a important disadvantages'), and sentence structure ('it decreases their intension to travel journey in future by train'). The student attempts some complex structures, but these are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent. The high frequency of basic grammatical errors indicates a lack of control over sentence construction.
