Student answer (Band 5.0)
Research projects are becoming very important for any sector to invent something new in these days. Recently private companies are funding many medical research projects which is a very good development. However, I think research projects should be conducted by private companies, individuals and government so that every sector can be benefited by inventing new things.
Maximum number of research projects are conducted or funded by the private companies. Private companies often help private universities or medical colleges by providing money and required facilities so that researchers can finish the project properly. In India if a researcher team needs any financial support or technical support they ask big companies to help. If they can manage a company to fund them then it becomes very helpful for them to concentrate on the project properly. Moreover, giant companies have their existing "research and development" department where they try to invent new ideas or products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 159 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed, and the development of ideas is severely limited. While you introduce the topic and state a position, the argument remains underdeveloped. The essay stops abruptly in the second paragraph, failing to provide a conclusion or a balanced discussion on the roles of the government and individuals as requested by the prompt. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed in full.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some basic logical organization, with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the abrupt ending prevents a coherent structure. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'However', but the limited length makes it difficult to assess your ability to manage paragraphing and progression effectively. The flow is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. To achieve a higher score, you need to develop a full essay structure with clear topic sentences, supporting arguments, and a concluding summary that ties your ideas together.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the topic, such as 'financial support', 'technical support', and 'research and development'. However, the range is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'very important' and 'very good development' are simplistic. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and avoid overusing generic intensifiers like 'very'. Expanding your range will help you express your ideas with more nuance and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound, with limited use of complex sentences. There are some grammatical issues, such as 'every sector can be benefited by inventing' (should be 'benefit from') and 'Maximum number of research projects are conducted' (should be 'The majority of'). While the errors do not completely impede communication, the lack of variety in sentence structure and the incomplete nature of the text limit the assessment. You should aim to use a wider variety of complex structures, such as relative clauses and conditional sentences, to demonstrate greater control.
