Student answer (Band 5.0)

Medical research are the very important concern in today's developing world. As we can see, many medical centres that run without research or those who haven't dwell itself to modern findings create significant health problems and crisis.

The research are conducted usually funded by private companies so that the people lacking fund shouldn't be worried to take a step back and those talented hands aren't rested elsewhere. Many research are funded by private companies which is a very powerful and supportive move to those who receive help.

In my opinion, the research related to medical field should be carried out mainly by government. Government have supportive plentiful resources also the fund that could help the reaseraches add value to something with greater value. Even though private companies fund many medical reaseraches but my perspective still supports that the government should be responsible in doing so and also conducting major reaseraches. Government should support the new talents and knowledge where the research lack which may also benefit the nation as a whole. For instance, the research and it's findings were of great differences and carried major benefits to the nation or as a whole, then government also gains the reputation and praise and is recognized by everyone.

However, we should appreciate the efforts private companies put on funding the reaseraches on medical fields so that it could create a major change and the talent is appreciated and any talent are eligible and shouldn't worry about the fund in order to research.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the funding of medical research and providing a clear personal opinion that the government should be primarily responsible. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. Phrases like 'Medical research are the very important concern' and the repetitive mention of private companies funding research indicate that while the core stance is visible, it lacks sufficient extension and depth. The arguments regarding why the government should fund research rely heavily on generalisations, such as 'government have supportive plentiful resources,' without exploring specific mechanisms or deeper economic or social implications. Therefore, the task response aligns best with a Band 5.0 descriptor, as the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs expressing different viewpoints, and a conclusion. However, progression is frequently hindered by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs often lack a clear internal logical progression, jumping between private funding and government roles without smooth connecting devices. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes misused, such as using 'however' and 'even though' in ways that create choppy logical links. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, for instance, in the sentence 'For instance, the research and it's findings were of great differences'. These issues point directly to Band 5.0, where organisation is present, but clear overall progression is lacking, and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent lexical and word-form errors. Examples include 'dwell itself to modern findings', 'lacking fund', and multiple misspellings like 'reaseraches'. The student attempts less common vocabulary items such as 'reputation', 'appreciation', and 'supportive', but these are often used in unnatural collocations or incorrect grammatical forms, as seen in 'medical research are the very important concern'. The range is minimally adequate to convey a basic message, but noticeable errors in word choice and spelling cause some difficulty for the reader. This performance is consistent with the Band 5.0 descriptors, where the lexical resource is limited and noticeable errors impede precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple and flawed complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, notably subject-verb agreement errors ('Medical research are', 'The research are', 'Government have'), incorrect prepositions, and punctuation issues. For example, 'so that the people lacking fund shouldn't be worried to take a step back and those talented hands aren't rested elsewhere' contains complex clauses that are structurally faulty and difficult to parse. These persistent errors frequently cause strain and difficulty for the reader. Consequently, the grammatical profile fits the Band 5.0 level, characterised by a limited range of structures and frequent errors in grammar.
