IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Nowadays, many medical research projects are funded by private companies. In your opinion, do you think that research should be carried by private companies, individuals or government?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, a growing proportion of medical research is financed by private sector organisations.Although private companies and individual researchers can make valuable contributions. I beleive that goverment should make primary resposibilties for medical research because public health should not be driven mainly by commercial interests.
On one hand, government should lead medical research because public health plays vital role in society it is responsibility of government ,administration should deal with substantial and substained funding, government should focus on public welfare rather than their profit.Government should concern about vaccines or infectious diseases spreding in public which effect wider population.
on the other hand,private companies and individual researchers can also play significant role because private companies have advanced technology while private companies have expertise machines with faster innovation however, it may prioritise profitable medicines .private comapnies may charge surge money to buy madicines but they provide well treatment which prevent illness and away from infectious diseases.In addition, they are specialised in medical researcher. For instance , private hospitals and companies provide actual and accurated blood test reports that encourage docters to prevent patient .
In conclusion,although private organisations and individulas can contribute significantly to medical advancement, I believe goverments should remain the primary funders and organisers of medical reaearch to ensure that public health and patient welafre are prioritised.
