Student answer (Band 5.0)
In todays time, several medical research projects financially depend on private companies. I think these research should be funded by government so that research benefit to people. I will discuss this opinion in subsequant paragraph.
Firstly, when a reserch project funded by individuals or private companies they look for profit from this research. Private companies do this for their own requirements. For example, A company fund a project to develope medicine for some disease and after successful they sell medicine at high margin. Private companies keep it secret and because of this so many poor people can not able to get treatment.
Secondly, if a research project provided fund by government it get wider range of analysis and more accurate result. This directly beneficiery to people they do not want to profit from this like as a private companies. Government can give fund to research very important for their nation. Some projects lead to big achievement for their country. These type of research solve problem of so many individuals health disease. After that people can able to get medical treatment. While government share this research with private companies also so that they can able to give treatment to everyone.
In conclusion, I believe that every research should be funded by government so that they improve health standard of their nation and everybody should get their treatment easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that government funding is preferable to private enterprise or individual funding. However, the task achievement is constrained significantly by two factors. First, the word count is 227 words, falling short of the mandatory 250-word minimum, which incurs a penalty. Second, the development of ideas lacks depth and specific supporting evidence. While the writer attempts to explain why private companies seek profit ('sell medicine at high margin') and why government funding ensures wider access, these points remain repetitive and under-developed. Examples given are generalised rather than concrete or well-substantiated. To achieve a higher band, the essay needs to fully meet the minimum length requirement and expand on the arguments with more detailed examples and nuanced exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a basic overall structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though the paragraphs are relatively short due to the overall length of the essay. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices can be mechanical, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'These type of research solve problem' where the connection to prior sentences feels abrupt. Progression is somewhat limited by the brevity of the arguments, but there is still a discernible, logical flow from the introduction of the problem to the conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for communicating the basic message, but the range is limited and repetitive. The student uses standard topic-related terms such as 'medical research projects', 'private companies', and 'government funding'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'subsequant paragraph' (subsequent), 'develope' (develop), 'beneficiery' (beneficial), and 'individuals health disease' (health issues or diseases). These errors reflect a restricted control of less common lexical items, and word formation issues occasionally cause the reader some friction, placing the lexical performance at a modest level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but attempts at complex sentences are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Examples of structural and agreement errors include 'these research should be funded' (plural/singular mismatch), 'when a reserch project funded' (missing auxiliary verb), 'poor people can not able to get treatment' (incorrect structure of modal and adjective), and 'government can give fund to research very important for their nation'. Punctuation is basic, and frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, prepositions, and sentence construction occur throughout the response. These errors require some effort from the reader to decode the intended meaning.
