Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the recent era, many medical research undertaken and funded by private companies. Many individuals are also one of the part of investing in medical researchs. From my perspective, private companies and government should fund medical researches and promote the education for it. My idea for this view is elaborated further.
Many private companies are funding medical researches in idea to gain publicity and profit from it. They invest there money in researches and if the findings are helpful to local public they can take the appreciation rather than promoting the doctors or researchers. Furthermore, private companies hold large amount of capital with them so, by funding medical reseachers they collaborate with government on medical reseachers which is also beneficial to government.
I think that goverment plays a vital role in medical field. From the past many decades government has gradually funded researches. One of the major reason is goverment does not work for any achivement or profit from researches is highly beneficial for people of a nation. In addition to that, the findings that are made by government is also positive for economic growth of a country. For the individuals, who funds medical reseaches should be ban because of a personal advantage they get it might be possible that some harmful outcome can cause large amount of people.
To conclude this, as the medical field plays an important role in our life. I firmly believe that government and semi-government firm should be allowed to fund medical researches. No private comapnies or individuals should be allowed to participate in medical researches

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing who should fund medical research, specifically considering private companies, individuals, and the government, thereby establishing a clear position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding private companies focuses mainly on publicity and profit without fully exploring broader socioeconomic impacts. Similarly, the suggestion that individuals should be completely banned is asserted rather than deeply supported with compelling reasoning. While the main parts of the task are addressed, the arguments lack depth and extension, aligning best with a Band 5 or 6. Because the position is stated and all parts are touched upon, the response earns a Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, attempting a logical progression from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing private companies and government roles, followed by a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The opening transition 'In the recent era' is awkward, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'there money' instead of 'their money'. Furthermore, transitional markers like 'In addition to that' and 'To conclude this' are rather basic. Paragraphing is present, but overall progression lacks smooth transitions and sophisticated management of cohesive devices, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and adequate only for basic communication. The student attempts some less common items such as 'publicity', 'collaboration', and 'economic growth', but these are offset by frequent word choice and spelling errors, such as 'researchs' instead of 'research', 'goverment' instead of 'government', and 'achivement' instead of 'achievement'. Additionally, collocation errors like 'invest there money' and 'cause large amount of people' reduce precision. These recurring inaccuracies and the restricted lexical repertoire reflect the Band 5.0 descriptor profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing verbs ('medical research undertaken and funded'), incorrect pluralization ('medical researchs', 'reseachers'), and faulty preposition use. Complex sentences often contain errors that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as in the sentence: 'For the individuals, who funds medical reseaches should be ban because of a personal advantage they get it might be possible that some harmful outcome can cause large amount of people.' These frequent non-systematic errors place the grammar score at Band 5.0.
