Student answer (Band 5.5)
These days, number of medical research projects are getting finincial help by private companies rater than individuals or government. In my opinion i would state that these sort of medical research project should be funded mostly government and private companies but opportunities for individuals also should be opened.
Firstly, advancements are being made in every aspect of life. Doing research on medical is indeed very essential but research is something that is very costly because advanced labs are required. Funding is required because organization itself that is conducting research cannot bare the whole research's expenditure. Large proportion of any medical research project should be funded by government because research is not a straight forward and easy task. Trained scholars and professional level expertise is required and can take reasonable amount of time to acheive someting valuable. So government should invest in this area like establishing advanced labs across country that costs most because it can beneficial for country's ranking in research field.
On the other hand, private companies mainly related to medical and other pharmaceutical products should also invest. Because after making any breakthrough in medical field all the medicines are handed over to these companies though with they make substantial profit. Private companies should train individuals on procedures and providing them basic facilities. These companies also provide finincial aid to individuals who are conducting research.
There should always be an opportunity for individuals those who want to contribute but it should not be required. These individuals only should provide incentive to researchers when anything is achieved because it will help researchers to stay motivated.
To conclude, all the three entities should contribute in medical research where large proportion of funding should be given by governments, then private companies and then by individuals those who want to contribute.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing who should fund medical research, specifically considering private companies, individuals, and the government. A clear position is established in the introduction, stating that funding should primarily come from the government and private companies while also opening opportunities for individuals. However, the development of ideas lacks full extension and sophistication. For example, the argument regarding government funding mentions that research is costly and requires trained scholars, but the explanation remains somewhat repetitive and lacks concrete real-world examples. The ideas are relevant and support the overall stance, aligning well with the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 6.0, as the main parts are addressed but some explanations remain slightly under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct ideas, such as government funding, private company investment, and individual contributions. However, logical progression is sometimes hindered by clunky transitions and mechanical cohesive devices, such as 'Firstly' and 'On the other hand,' which are used repetitively without always ensuring smooth flow. Referencing can also be imprecise, as seen with phrases like 'these sort of medical research project' and vague pronoun usage. While the structure is generally clear, these lapses in cohesion prevent the essay from achieving a higher band, placing it comfortably at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'advancements,' 'expenditure,' 'pharmaceutical products,' and 'breakthrough.' However, there are notable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'finincial' instead of 'financial,' 'rater' instead of 'rather,' 'bare' instead of 'bear,' 'acheive' instead of 'achieve,' and 'though with they make' which impairs readability in places. Attempts at less common vocabulary are made, but lexical control is inconsistent. These errors do not completely impede communication, making the vocabulary profile indicative of a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting complex forms with varying degrees of success. For instance, the sentence 'In my opinion i would state that these sort of medical research project should be funded mostly government and private companies...' contains capitalization issues, missing prepositions ('funded mostly by'), and subject-verb agreement flaws ('sort of ... project' vs plural context). Frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('research on medical,' 'across country'), awkward phrasing, and punctuation slips, occur throughout the text. While these errors do not entirely obscure the intended meaning, they are persistent enough to cap the score at Band 5.5.
