IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Nowadays, many medical research projects are funded by private companies. In your opinion, do you think that research should be carried by private companies, individuals or government?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Recently, large portion of researches on medical projects are funded by private entities.In my perspective, work on such critical subjects should be done by governments.Despite it will consume huge budget, but it will be reliable in public view.Wheras,solely dependence on the private organizations or individuals may result in critcism or lack of trust by public.

Although, financing of such big projects requires substantial budget, however it can be reliable in the public view.Private corporates do research on medical projects which is appreciable,but they charges significantly the public and government sectors.In contrast, researches that are carried by the government when results in the production of medicine etc helps the citizens financially.It is becuase of the government non-profitable policy.For Instance, private organizations spending on medical intiative may requires funding and when they find the solution to that specific medical research as a consequence they will include extra charges to make profit. It will be paid by the local community.

Morevere, communities do not trust the private entities, as medical issues are non-negotiable for them. Experiments by individuals may be correct but who will verify it? The government? why not do the project by themselves to be reliable. It is easier for public to trust authorities rather than certain public figures.For example, In our community whatever anouncement made by local people about the corona virus was ignored by the populace, whereas, police station and medical staff recommendations were fully followed.

In conclusion, researches in all important sectors including medical department should be always carried out by the government. It will help local community financially and these researches will be trustworthy in their opinions.

Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression between sentences occasionally stumbles due to abrupt shifts in thought. While the organisational structure is visible and generally guides the reader through the argument, the mechanical nature of the cohesive devices and minor structural cohesion flaws place this response firmly in the Band 6.0 range.
