IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Nowadays, many medical research projects are funded by private companies. In your opinion, do you think that research should be carried by private companies, individuals or government?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
During research some funding is required , usually it is given by government , private companies or may be from a rich tycon.
Researches are done by reasearchers to find out the solution of a problem. Basically they work on the research gap. Research gap is some thing that is not yet answered by anyone. So it is best to work on something that is not addressed untill now.
Many big companies sponser researches they give funding and they also give fixed salary to reasearchers.
In my thinking, The best example is when we had a pandemic in 2020 many pharmaceutical companies sponsered the funding on the researches of corona virus. Finances are important because it is required for the lab equipment for the collection of samples and data from different area. Many different chemicals were also required for the further testing of this virus .
Researchers were continously tried to cultivate it in laboratories and then used different medicines so that they can check which medicine is working for the killing or stopping the growth of this virus. So that they can use this as a medicine against the viral infection in body .
In my opinion the best source of funding could be anything , it could be a private company like pfizer sponcored funds for different research every year , or taking funds from government is also a good idea. Both are fine. Both have their own advantages. At the end when scientists have some amazing results from their researches the company who gave funds are also on headlines.
