IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Nowadays, many medical research projects are funded by private companies. In your opinion, do you think that research should be carried by private companies, individuals or government?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
These days, a lot of medical research is funded by parivete companies. While some people think that private companies or individual should do this on demand. I belive the govt is the mainly responsible for this medical research.
On the one hand private companies have a lot of money and the best technology .Because they want to want to make profit , they often work fast to create drugs and treatment. but the main problem is that these companies only focus on their profit. This makes medicine very expensive, so normal people cannot afford them.
On the other hand govt funded researchers who are focus only on health not on profit also govt focus on major health issues and that is why when govt handle the research then the main goal is to save lives. This helps ensure that basic vaccines and medicine stay affordable for everyone also govt focus on the public health emergencies and infections .
In conclusion private companies do paly a useful role in marketing new medicine and discoveries . however i think medical research should funded by govt so healthcare remains fair and pure.
