Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent times, several medical research projects are being funded by the private companies. In my opinion, if these reseaches would be carried by all, private companies, individuals or government, then it will be more benefitial. The funds will increase by huge amounts and the responsibilities will also be divided.

Initially, the medical research is done on a regular basis and at a large scale, so it require fundings. As per the reports various medical researches are funded by private companies. Either for building their image in public or they do it as a social work. For instance, a specific medical research is going on and it requires funding, so a big well known private company provides them their required money with an agreement for their own benefits. The fundings by private companies are much faster than the government's funding.

However, if individuals and government also participates in this, then the funding will be mode on a larger scale. The medical research projects will raise the funds effortlessly. Some projects are started to help people who cannot afford the medical facilites, but the projects have the limited budget, so government and individuals should also help them in monetory terms and providing facilities which help more and more people. For instance, blinkit is a private company, and is helping with the medical researches like providng the ambulances, not for their profits but for the convinience of the individuals.

In conclusion, the recent research says private companies funds the medical research projects, but in my opinion the govenrment and individuals should also join it, for the benefits to all, especially to the projects as they will get huge fundings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by discussing the role of private companies, individuals, and the government in funding medical research. A position is presented in the introduction stating that all three entities should collaborate for greater benefits. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial. For example, while the writer mentions that private companies fund research for public image or social work, the explanation lacks depth. Similarly, the suggestion that government and individuals should participate is supported by a somewhat unclear example involving 'blinkit', a delivery company described as providing ambulances. Because the ideas are underdeveloped and the reasoning contains logical leaps, the response aligns best with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text is divided into four paragraphs, showing an attempt at a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is hindered by weak transitions and awkward sentence connections. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or mechanical, such as the abrupt shift using 'Initially' to begin the second paragraph and 'However' to introduce the third. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks smooth flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'so a big well known private company provides them their required money'. Overall, the organization shows some logical arrangement but suffers from frequent cohesive flaws, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive throughout the essay. Words like 'research', 'funding', 'private companies', and 'medical' are recycled frequently without much variation. There are also noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'benefitial' instead of beneficial, 'fundings' (funding is an uncountable noun in this context), 'monetory' instead of monetary, and 'convinience' instead of convenience. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic meaning, the persistent errors in spelling and word form cause some distraction for the reader, placing this response securely at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('several medical research projects are being funded', 'so it require fundings'), tense confusion ('if these reseaches would be carried'), and missing articles. Punctuation and sentence boundary errors also occur, such as comma splices and run-on structures. Although the meaning can generally be deciphered, the high frequency of structural and mechanical errors means that error-free sentences are the exception rather than the majority, which is characteristic of a Band 5 performance.
