Student answer (Band 5.5)

Thesedays, many medical research projects are supported by private sector and companies.and private sectors can add valuable contribution to the research. In my opinion research should be done by the government because they can support more medical centre because mostly number of people using medical health care centre so there is more knowledge in the government hospital about the spreading diseases and illnes and they can better perform research on number of projects.

There are many reason to support this assertion because almost majority of the people using government healthcare and they have vast knowledge regarding to medical projects. For instance, pharmaceutical center can work on many vaccines to stop the spread of many diseases and they ca also manufactured number of medicines to make people recover from many diseases.

Moreover, if private sector work on the research project it does not focus as much as compared to the government sector. For example they need more financial support to overcome their needs too while if government sector perform these reasearch they can be supported by government as well as many private compaines too. So, it more benefical that research work should be carried by government.

So, In conculsion I agreed that priavte companies need to support government comapnies finanically for better advancement in the field of medical research projects. However, I believe governments should remain primarily responsible for funding and overseeing medical research so that public health needs, rather than commercial interests alone, determine research priorities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of government-funded medical research, and it provides some relevant ideas, such as the scale of public healthcare users and the broad scope of government centers. However, some ideas remain under-developed or briefly stated without sufficient elaboration, and the position becomes slightly contradictory when the conclusion suggests private companies should financially support government companies. Furthermore, it is important to note that the response falls four words short of the minimum two hundred and fifty-word requirement, which slightly impacts task completion. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to fully extend and support all main arguments with richer details and ensure complete adherence to the minimum length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the writing into logical paragraphs, beginning with an introduction, developing body paragraphs, and finishing with a conclusion. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first sentence contains abrupt phrasing, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun use in 'if private sector work... it does not focus as much'. Paragraphing is used, but the progression of ideas lacks complete smoothness. To move to the next level, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing is consistently clear throughout the essay.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully communicating basic points about medical research and government funding. However, the lexical resource is limited and contains noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include 'Thesedays' instead of nowadays, 'illnes' instead of illness, 'benefical' instead of beneficial, 'conculsion' instead of conclusion, and 'priavte' instead of private. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'pharmaceutical center' and 'commercial interests', but these are offset by frequent spelling and collocation inaccuracies. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand the range of vocabulary and improve accuracy in spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentences alongside some attempts at complex forms. These complex attempts are frequently faulty, featuring persistent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries. Examples include 'mostly number of people using medical health care centre', 'There are many reason', and sentences joined incorrectly without punctuation, such as 'companies.and private sectors'. While communication is generally maintained despite these errors, they occur frequently enough to cause occasional difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer should incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over basic grammatical rules and punctuation.
