Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, Medical research projects are conducted in many countries. But in mostly countries, medical projects are funded by many private companies. Many people believe that these researches should be carried out by private comapanies. Others believe that they will be carried by government. A far as my opinion is concerned, I believe that mmedical research projects should be carried out by government.
Now, I will explain the reasons about why I am in favor of the government?
Firstly, the main advantage of supporting government is health because you know that the the government is responsible for the public`s health rather than their own profit and they want us to cure us quickly, so that`s why i think that the fund should be given to the government. On the other hand, the main aim of private comapnies is making profit not paying attention to our health and basic needs.
Secondly, the main advantage is long the long term research. Sometimes, medical research can take a lot of time to give any results. So, in that time, the funds should be given to the government because in this time, the government will help the scientists in diffferent types of experiment and they also will also be able to construct new medical collages and universities at that time.
In conclusion, i AM IN FAVOR OF GOVERNMENT.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
This response partially addresses the task by presenting a clear personal position in favour of government-funded research. However, the ideas remain quite limited and under-developed, relying on repetitive arguments rather than fully exploring the prompt. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 223 words instead of the required 250 words. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to expand significantly on their ideas, provide deeper explanations with relevant examples, and ensure the word count requirement is fully satisfied.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation with simple linking words such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the paragraphing is poor, featuring excessively short paragraphs and informal conversational framing like 'Now, I will explain the reasons...'. Cohesive devices are repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'so that's why i think'. To improve, the writer must use a wider range of cohesive devices more naturally and structure the essay into cohesive paragraphs with a clear logical flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in spelling and word choice that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include misspelled words like 'comapanies', 'mmedical', 'diffferent', and 'collages', as well as repetitive phrasing such as 'medical research projects' and 'carried out by private companies'. The range of vocabulary is basic and lacks flexibility. To move up, the student needs to incorporate a broader variety of less common lexical items and demonstrate greater accuracy in spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of sentence structures, with frequent reliance on basic patterns. Attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, such as in the clause 'reasons about why I am in favor of the government?'. There are frequent errors in articles, prepositions, and capitalization, such as 'in mostly countries', 'the the government', and writing entire concluding sentences in capital letters. These errors require some effort from the reader to decode. To improve, the writer should practice forming grammatically correct complex sentences and carefully proofread their work to eliminate basic errors.
