Student answer (Band 5.0)
Medical research is one of the most important research related to humen lives. The research should be done very carefully because any type of conclusion made in medical totally rely on research. As nowadays research is maximally done by private companies. It is good thing upto some extent that private companies are funding research and doing something good in field of medical to help the humanity. It also good to save budget of governmenet for research and to be used that budget in some different field. But private medical fundiinig research also have negative impacts in few ways like if it is not under the supervision of the capable persons then it may have lot of flaws ini research results that can cause soome serious problems after making products like medicine for the people and also for govt. Recently I was told that there are some medical companies working near our area but there is no any pharmacist specialized person. Medicine are being made without any proper supervisory. So i think that the most importantly it should be done under govt supervisoy weather research is done by private or govt persons but there must be supervisory board assigned by goovt to supervise each type of reseach done in medical field. This will enhance the quality of research and will improve the medical fields and will also be good for people. As if the research is done good then then everything will be made upto the mark. And in everything like medicines, diagnosing process quality work will be done as it all depend on research. THANKS

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially by discussing both the positive and negative aspects of private funding in medical research, and touches upon who should carry it out by suggesting government supervision. However, the position is not always clearly sustained throughout the text, and the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the mention that private funding saves government budgets is introduced but not extended with further explanation or consequences. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop all parts of the prompt with well-supported arguments and a clearer, more consistent stance on whether private companies, individuals, or the government should primarily conduct medical research.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some organisation in the response, but it lacks a clear overall progression. The essay is presented as a single large paragraph rather than being properly structured into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which severely restricts the logical flow. Cohesive devices are largely absent or repetitive, with basic links like 'It is good thing' and 'And in everything' connecting thoughts rather than guiding the reader smoothly through a structured argument. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as 'that budget' without a strong preceding anchor. To improve, the writer must use paragraphing effectively to separate distinct ideas and employ a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to establish clear logical relationships between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent spelling mistakes, such as 'humen', 'governmenet', 'fundiinig', 'ini', 'soome', 'supervisoy', 'goovt', and 'reseach', alongside awkward word choices like 'medical research is one of the most important research related to humen lives' and 'specialized person'. While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'supervisory board', the high density of lexical and spelling errors impedes smooth reading. To progress, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary, improve control over word forms and collocations, and pay closer attention to basic spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with occasional, faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent errors in grammar, including missing articles ('in field of medical', 'without any proper supervisory'), incorrect pluralisation ('Medicine are being made'), and awkward prepositional usage. Furthermore, punctuation is weak, and run-on sentences appear frequently, such as 'As if the research is done good then then everything will be made upto the mark.' These frequent grammatical and structural errors cause strain for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer must increase sentence variety, improve subject-verb agreement, and enhance overall control over complex grammatical patterns.
