It is witnessed in recent years that many medical research projects are funded by private organization's around the world. However , I discord , with this statement , as I believe that this research should be carried out by both government as well as private organizations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether medical research should be funded by private companies or the government, attempting to present a position. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument that private companies are merely 'money minded' is asserted without sufficient supporting evidence or a nuanced exploration of how public-private partnerships might operate. Furthermore, the position sometimes lacks clarity, as the introduction states a discord with private funding, yet the body paragraphs acknowledge that private companies possess necessary financial resources. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to present a fully developed position with well-supported arguments and extended ideas that thoroughly explore all facets of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some organization through basic paragraphing and attempts at logical sequencing, but there is a lack of clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate, mechanical, or over-used, such as the frequent transitions like 'Consequently', 'Nevertheless', and 'Having consider considered'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the logical flow between ideas is frequently disrupted by abrupt shifts in perspective, such as moving from the benefits of private funding directly to sweeping generalizations about corporate greed without smooth bridging. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, leaving the reader to infer connections between sentences. Achieving a higher band requires ensuring that cohesive devices are used more naturally and that each paragraph clearly contributes to a seamless progression of the main argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for expressing basic viewpoints, employing terms such as 'advancements', 'healthcare', and 'economy'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, awkward word choices, and morphological mistakes—such as 'organization's' instead of 'organizations', 'discord' instead of 'disagree', and 'researchment'—which cause some difficulty for the reader. There is also occasional awkward collocation, such as 'investigation such technological advancement medical sectors'. To reach a higher standard, the writer should expand their vocabulary range, use less common lexical items with greater precision, and pay closer attention to word forms and natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'government already have burden', missing or incorrect articles ('from other sectors', 'as a result'), and awkward prepositional usage. Punctuation errors are also apparent, such as unnecessary spaces before commas ('However , I discord') and incomplete relative clauses ('the result that will people face'). These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer must work on increasing sentence variety while maintaining tight control over basic grammatical structures, verb forms, and punctuation.
