Student answer (Band 5.0)
In this period of time, non-government companies finances numbers of medical research projects. In this i will discuss the role os government in medical research projects and will give my opinions.
Examining the role of goverment, for the medical research projects government should fund them because these medicals reseaches are for the whole country and if that research turn out to be goog then it will be influencing world wide. For example, if one is doing any research about a kind of medicine for a certain disease, if the research turnout to be fruitful it will be amazing for thed whole world so the government should finance one for this. In my knowledge, if we see insulin it was discoverd by a random man so if the goverment finances a random research team their will be some chances of their sucess.
Futhermore, if the researches are carried by private companies which is not a bad thing but the goverment take care of everything going in one country so the goverment should fund the medical research projects which are somehow going to be fruitful for ine country and the whole world. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the prompt partially, discussing government funding for medical research while touching briefly on private companies. However, the position is not always clear or fully maintained, and ideas remain limited and under-developed, relying on vague reasoning such as 'if that research turn out to be goog then it will be influencing world wide.' Furthermore, the minimum length requirement of 250 words was not met, as the response stops abruptly at 227 words and is left unfinished, which significantly impacts the development of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation with simple transitional devices like 'Examining the role of goverment' and 'To conclude', but there is no clear overall progression due to the incomplete nature of the essay. Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing and logical flow are frequently faulty, such as the abrupt conclusion that trails off mid-sentence without actually finishing the thought or summarising the essay effectively.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'finances' instead of 'finance', 'medicals reseaches', 'discoverd', and 'sucess'. While the meaning can generally be parsed, these errors cause some difficulty and prevent the response from demonstrating a more flexible or precise lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on repetitive simple and heavy-handed complex attempts that are often faulty. Frequent errors are present regarding article usage, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'in this i will discuss' and 'the whole country and if that research turn out'. These frequent errors create noticeable strain for the reader throughout the text.
