Student answer (Band 6.0)
Medical research projects is a great responsibilty of government but private companies play a huge role in funding the project nowadays. Government on the other hand should invest their resources too for the advancement in the medical field and I think both government and private sector should work together to carry out medical researches.
Private companies fund the medical research projects as they get financial benefit from it. Private companies have the resources and money also they get to advertise if they achieve something in the research. Medical research projects are funded by the private sector due to the reason that they don't get the support from the government. In the research projects many experts work together to come up with a result, Researchers and the sector they are from get the benefit from them too.
Government on the other hand, lacks to fulfill the funding the project needs but it can come up with resources like the labs, medical camps, campaigns etc. For example a disease in a poor community, researchers working with the governement can move forward to test that community by setting up camps and providing free healthcare to the community. Private companies will not step forward to do anything for free as there is no financial benefit.
In my opinion, researches should be carried out with the help of private companies in terms of funding and government should provide the resources needed. Whereas, individuals should share ideas and donate but at a large scale I don't think individuals should come forward as they lack the regulations and safety measures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you favour cooperation between private companies and government, with individuals contributing ideas or donations rather than leading research. You address all three options and give a relevant example of government-supported testing and free healthcare in a poor community. The explanation that companies may seek financial returns also supports your view. This meets the task well, and the position is evident throughout. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that companies fund research because they lack government support is not clearly connected to your earlier point about financial benefit. The role of individuals is also only briefly discussed. Develop these points with clearer reasoning or a specific example to make the argument more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your position, the body paragraphs discuss private companies and government, and the final paragraph gives your conclusion and addresses individuals. This creates an overall coherent arrangement. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes loose: the second paragraph moves from companies’ financial motives to researchers’ benefits without clearly showing how the ideas connect. Linking phrases such as “on the other hand” are repeated, and “Whereas” at the start of the final sentence creates an awkward connection to the preceding point. Some references, such as “them” in “get the benefit from them too,” are unclear. Use more precise referencing and vary transitions, while ensuring each paragraph develops one main idea in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “financial benefit,” “resources,” “regulations,” and “safety measures,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “advancement in the medical field” and “providing free healthcare.” However, the range is limited by repetition of “private companies,” “government,” and “research,” and several word choices or collocations are awkward, including “carry out medical researches,” “lacks to fulfill the funding,” and “come up with a result.” Spelling errors such as “responsibilty” and “governement” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural collocations for funding and conducting research, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “as,” “if,” and “as there is no financial benefit.” Most of the meaning remains clear, but some errors in agreement, verb patterns, articles, and sentence boundaries are noticeable. For example, “Medical research projects is” should use a plural verb, while “lacks to fulfill the funding the project needs” has an incorrect verb construction. The sentence beginning “In the research projects many experts work together” also runs into a new idea after “result,” creating a comma splice. There are some longer structures, but control is uneven. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and separate independent clauses with a full stop or an appropriate conjunction.
