Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the issue and give a position in the conclusion: you argue that government should fund medical research. You also offer a relevant reason—that private companies may invest because research can help them improve products—and mention Apollo Pharmaceutical as an example. However, the response only partially addresses the choice among private companies, individuals and government. The opening mainly describes why private firms conduct research, while the conclusion favours government, and this shift is not explained or supported. The point about individuals is brief and unfinished, and the example is not developed enough to show what research achieved. The response is also 52 words below the required minimum. Develop a consistent position and explain each main reason with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to reasons and then a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “To commence with,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. However, progression between the ideas is not consistently clear: the first body paragraph supports private companies, but the conclusion recommends government without a transition or explanation. The second body paragraph begins with government spending priorities, then shifts to individuals, and ends with an incomplete example (“To exemplify with ,kd”). Some connectors, including “In addition” and “Secondly,” do not clearly show the relationship between points. Organise each paragraph around one main idea and use linking expressions to make the reasoning explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research,” “investments,” “products,” and “economical growth,” and attempt more formal expressions such as “dedication and determination.” This gives the response a basic range relevant to the subject. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are frequent enough to make parts difficult to understand, for example “cuases,” “suceed,” “pharmacutical,” and “accpmpdation.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear, such as “this may be aid for them” and “arrange fuds and budgates.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Using precise terms such as “allocate funding” and “conduct clinical trials” would make your argument clearer and more academic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a purpose clause in “private companies nowadays do research projects by themselves in order to…” and a reason introduced by “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries occur frequently. Examples include “medical technology are,” “governments have not enough budgets,” “government have,” and “they cannot did it.” The opening also runs several sentences together without appropriate capitalisation or spacing, while the final body paragraph contains an incomplete sentence. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences before adding more complex clauses, and proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
