Student answer (Band 5.5)

At the present time , numerous medical research projects are financially funded by private companies. In my opinion, research projects should be carried by government and individuals but not by private companies.

To begin with, medical research projects are very significant for people's health and it is a contribution to our medical history . Research in the past were done for the welfare of society.

They used to get funded by the government who is in charge of taking care of the citizen's well being. Researches were done to study more about diseases and human body and how it works, studying different virus from past and how people found the antitode and what to do better in future . People in the past used to believe in this researches because it was funded by the government and done by trusted individuals.

However, the case is not the same today . There is an increase in growth of private institution's power and how they cantrol things in medical line also . In today's society there are various private companies who funds medical researches into their product favour. They juist want to gain customers' trust by bias research reports. For example there was a research by a private organisation that removing sweat glands from underarms cause no harm to people, it started gaining the trust of the audience as it was a proper medical research paper where they showed bias and removed the harms done by that procedure in result people started doing that. In no time there was harmful results out there , some people were also dead from that procedure .

In conclusion, medical research projects are very important as they are for the betterment of people living in society. So the research should be funded carried by government or individual as they are more trusted than private organisation .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support government and individual involvement rather than private-company funding, and you give a relevant reason that commercial sponsors may favour their own products. The example about a biased report on underarm sweat-gland removal helps illustrate this concern. You also explain the public-health purpose of research. However, the government and individual options are not explored equally: individuals are mentioned as trustworthy, but their role in funding or conducting research is not explained. Some claims, such as people dying after the procedure, would be more convincing with clearer context or a qualified example. Develop each option and explain why it is preferable to private funding to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs present background and concerns about private companies, and the conclusion restates your position. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. Within paragraphs, though, several ideas are joined in long sequences, particularly the account of past research and the example of the private organisation. This makes the progression less clear, and some references, such as “they” and “this research,” do not always identify their subject precisely. Use shorter, more focused paragraphs or sentences, and make the connection between each claim, explanation, and example explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “diseases,” “bias research reports,” and “betterment of people.” This gives you enough language to communicate your central argument, but the range and control are limited by repeated general terms such as “research” and “people,” as well as several inaccurate or awkward choices. For example, “carried by government” is not a natural way to describe who conducts or funds research, and “in their product favour” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “cantrol,” “juist,” and “antitode” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling; alternatives such as “conducted by,” “commercial interests,” and “antidote” would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main position remains understandable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries occur across the response. For instance, “Research in the past were done” should use a singular or uncountable subject with a matching verb, while “private companies who funds” has a plural subject and singular verb. The sentence beginning “For example there was a research…” runs through several claims without clear punctuation, making the relationships harder to follow. There are also inconsistent spaces before punctuation. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and dividing long sentences into complete, controlled clauses while retaining some complex structures.
