Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this era, numerous research projects are financed by private companies. In my opinion, the reseach projects regarding medical should be done by independent organizations and governments should maintain a check and balance on them.
Many private companies do medical researches regarding their product and use it as in their promotional material. Most of the times, the results in their resarches are misleading. The results potrayed by the companies often include biasness which can manipulate the audience to buy their products or services. For instance, the companies manufacturing olive oil show only the positive affects of the oil but ignore the negative aspects proven in the studies. These are some reasons by which a need arises for the regulatory authoraity which can ensure that the facts shown in advertisements are not misleading for the consumers.
Many medical researches are often lead by the governemnt institutions on which a large propotion of the population argues. Critics argue that governments also have some biasness and political agendas to complete.Sometimes governments may publish misleading facts to promote the goods exported by their country. For example, some countries have published misleading information regarding the uranium use. Due to these arguements it is better that the governments should only play role as a regulator and all the researches should be take place independently.
In Conclusion, researches done by private companies could also be misleading so there is a need for an authority which regulates these medical researches and

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You present a discernible view: research should be conducted independently, while governments regulate it. The discussion of commercial bias is relevant, and the olive-oil example helps illustrate your concern. However, the response only partially develops the task: it does not clearly compare the roles of private companies, individuals and government, and the government-bias paragraph gives a broad claim about exported goods without explaining its connection to medical research. The conclusion is unfinished, ending with “and”, so your final position is not fully brought together. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, address each option directly, explain why independent research is preferable, and complete the conclusion with a clear summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and each body paragraph focuses on a main concern: commercial bias and possible government bias. Examples are placed near the points they support. However, progression is uneven: the discussion moves from medical research to advertising and then to uranium and national exports, so the link between some examples and the central question is not always clear. Connectors such as “For instance,” “For example,” and “Due to these arguments” help, but the relationships between claims could be explained more explicitly. The conclusion is incomplete, which also weakens the overall sense of closure. Use clearer topic sentences and transitions, and ensure each paragraph advances the comparison of who should conduct research.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “medical research,” “promotional material,” “regulatory authority,” “bias,” and “misleading,” which allows you to communicate the main concerns. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a need arises” and “political agendas.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word forms, spellings and collocations make the writing less natural: “reseach,” “potrayed,” “biasness,” “propotion,” and “authoraity” are examples. Phrases such as “medical researches” and “positive affects” are also imprecise in this context. Build accuracy by learning common academic collocations and checking spelling and word forms; for example, use “medical research,” “positive effects,” and “research findings” consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and “that,” and most of the main ideas remain understandable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence construction. Examples include “researches are often lead” and “should be take place,” where the verb patterns are faulty, and “governments should only play role,” which is missing an article. The sentence “Sometimes governments may publish misleading facts to promote the goods exported by their country” is grammatically understandable but its structure is awkward. Punctuation also needs attention: there is no space after the full stop in “complete.Sometimes,” and the final sentence is left unfinished. Practise accurate passive forms and complete sentences while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
