Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

Recently observed that many research projects are directed by private companies. But there are two different opinions. A group of people think that research should be carried only by government, whereas other group says that everyone have a right a carry a research either its a private company or individual. In my opnion, research must be carried by both private companies and individuals. Because in this way, it proceeded by clearly and transparently which would be hidden in case of government and secondly, there is no biasness while doing a research.

If research done by a private company or individual then biggest benefit of this is it has clarity. In this, from starting to ending, every step have clearly mentioned like what things they have noticed, where it is carried. In short, there is no hidden thing that a private company or individual taken it hidden for the safety of the interest of their country but this thing hinder in a way of government. The state needed to care about all these things such as sensative information, interest of someone or threat of revealing useful assets. On the other hand, individual or private companies are independent from all these things and that's why their research have more reliable and sustained.

Second advantage is, research carried from non-governement entities have no biasness in their research. Like government of any country took some funding from institutions, farms or other famous polititians and while doing research, if something wrong about them will be observe then government will not publish it or change facts and figures which directly affect on the reliability of a research. Conversely, individual or company try to do authentic research that actually show the reality and also if they do these research then they get interest of other people and in return, they get funding for further research which will help in growth of that person or company.

In conclusion, i completely agree with this opinion that research should not carried only by government but also private companies and individuals as they bring some benefits which may not be in the state's research. Biggest advantage is, everything in research are completely opened to the public and there is no edited information and second is, it's free from biasness either high rank people, politicians, businessmans or others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support research by private companies and individuals rather than relying only on government, and you give two relevant reasons—greater transparency and less political influence. The examples about governments withholding findings that affect powerful groups help explain your argument. This addresses the main question, but the discussion is not fully balanced: the prompt asks whether research should be carried out by private companies, individuals, or government, while the response gives little consideration to the value of government research or to how the three might work together. Some claims, such as private research being inherently reliable and unbiased, are asserted rather than supported. Develop these points with specific examples and acknowledge a limitation or counterargument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “Second advantage” and “In conclusion” make the overall progression easy to follow. However, some connections are mechanical, and several references are unclear. For example, “In this” does not clearly identify what is being discussed, while “this thing hinder in a way of government” makes the contrast difficult to follow. The first body paragraph also repeats the idea that private research is transparent without clearly separating the explanation from the claim. Use more precise references and organise each paragraph around a clear claim, explanation, and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “funding,” “reliability,” “politicians,” and “research,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “authentic research.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated wording and inaccurate collocations. “Biasness” is repeated where “bias” would be natural, and phrases such as “research carried from non-government entities” and “get interest of other people” are awkward or unclear. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “opnion,” “sensative,” “governement,” and “polititians.” These choices sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Build a more precise vocabulary for discussing research, evidence, funding, and independence, and check spelling and word combinations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if something wrong about them will be observe” and contrastive clauses beginning “whereas” and “Conversely.” However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, or sentence construction, and these sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “everyone have a right a carry a research” needs corrected agreement and infinitive structure, while “every step have clearly mentioned” is missing an appropriate auxiliary and passive form. The opening fragment, “Recently observed that…,” also needs a clear subject. Practise accurate passive constructions and subject–verb agreement, then proofread each sentence for a complete subject and verb. This will help your varied sentence attempts communicate more reliably.
