Student answer (Band 4.5)

In the current era, medical research projects are funded by private companies. In my view, this has a positive side, which protects the lives of everyone, by making them aware of it. This essay will state the reasons and present my opinion.

To begin with, medical research projects form a part of every course, and it is very much important for a student to complete it in order to receive their degree. In addition, it also forms a vital part for the country's economy, that protect theri citizens from all kinds o diseases. For example, doing a research on certain type of disease or a bacterium will help us to know more about the worldwide spread of infection. As a result, it will be beneficial for humans to be aware of it and prepare themselves to take preventive actions.

From my perspective, I believe it should be funded by authorities, which assist other medical feild laboratries to be aware of experimenting bacteria or any kind of disease by which they can able to develop the stratergies to prevent it. For instance, like the coronavirus, after conducting a laboratory experiments the scientists develop the vaccination for it. Therefore, forms the corrective action taken up by the medical department with the help of funding done the government.

In conclusion, Although medical research assignments are very important that helps us to know more about the occurence of infection. Furthermore, authorities should implement the preventive care and provide the medical staff with all the equipments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response gives a view that government authorities should fund medical research, and it includes relevant references to disease prevention and coronavirus vaccination. However, the task asks you to consider whether research should be funded by private companies, individuals, or government; the response does not meaningfully compare these options, and its opening claim about private funding is not clearly reconciled with the later preference for government funding. The reasons are also only briefly developed: the point about research being part of a student’s course does not explain who should fund it. The response is 242 words, so it is 8 words below the required minimum; the 9 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop a consistent position and support it with fuller, directly relevant reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a recognisable paragraph structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “For example” help signal relationships between points. However, overall progression is difficult to follow because the first body paragraph shifts from student coursework to the national economy and disease awareness without clearly connecting these ideas to funding choices. The opening suggests private funding is positive, while the next paragraph argues for government funding, and this change is not signposted. Some connections are also incomplete, as in “Therefore, forms the corrective action…” Make each paragraph develop one clear reason, use references that identify what “it” means, and ensure the conclusion follows the position established in the introduction.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “infection,” “preventive actions,” “laboratory,” and “vaccination.” These terms make the general subject clear, and there are attempts to use more formal expressions such as “vital part” and “authorities.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the intended meaning unclear: “medical research assignments,” “medical feild laboratries,” and “corrective action taken up” are not natural in this context. Spelling errors such as “occurence” and “stratergies” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing funding, research findings, and public-health outcomes, and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “which,” “that,” and “in order to.” Some basic sentences communicate the main topic, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors recur across the response. For example, “which protect the lives” has unclear clause structure, while “that protect theri citizens” does not agree with its subject. The sentence beginning “Therefore, forms the corrective action…” lacks a clear subject and complete structure, and the conclusion begins with “Although” without completing the contrast. Articles, plurals, and verb forms also need attention, as in “a certain type” and “a laboratory experiments.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, then check agreement and punctuation.
