Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the recent days, a massive number of medical projects are funded by private companies which further research in these medical projects. In my opinion, i think that these research should mainly carrried by government not private companies or individuals. In the following paragarph, i will explain why these research should be funded by government.

On the first hand, medical projects should be sponsored by government because if government should spend on these projects then the result of these experiment will spread out throughout the whole country. For example, free medical treatment will be available for people who could not affort it. Government should establish free hospitals for poor people and should must give free treatment in these hospitals.

On the second hand, government funded projects have many benefits in many fields like vaccination for diseases, and provides free treatment where hospitals are not establish. They also provide various health insurance schemes for needy people. In the research, a person can develop a sense that if he will be able to succeed in the research, then this will help many people who was suffered from it. Health insurance scheme basically provide people free treatment in expensive hospitals where they were not able to pay the expense. So, these government funded projects provides a variety of benefits for people.

On another hand, many disease should be sponsored by private companies because there a number of disease which is not still discovered and government have not sufficent fund to discovered for the treatment of these diseases.

So, i conclude that medical research projects sponsored by goverment have many advantages for people who could not afford treatment and also could not afford medicines for their treatment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is identifiable: you argue that government should mainly fund medical research, and you give relevant reasons involving access to treatment, hospitals and insurance. The example of free treatment for people who cannot afford it helps explain the public benefit. However, the response only partially addresses the choice among government, private companies and individuals. The case for private funding appears briefly in the paragraph about undiscovered diseases, but it is not developed or reconciled with your main position; individuals are not discussed. Several points also shift from funding research to providing healthcare, without explaining how research itself produces these outcomes. Develop and support each funding option more directly, and clarify why government should lead despite the limits you mention.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can recognise its basic organisation. You also use signposts such as “On the first hand” and “So” to indicate stages in the argument. However, progression is not consistently clear: the second body paragraph repeats the benefits of government funding, while the paragraph beginning “On another hand” introduces private funding without connecting it to the earlier argument or the conclusion. Some linking phrases are inaccurate or repetitive, and references such as “these projects” and “these research” are not always clear. Give each paragraph one distinct purpose, use transitions that show the actual relationship between ideas, and make the conclusion reflect the qualification about private companies.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “vaccination,” “health insurance schemes” and “free treatment,” which makes the general subject clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly references to free treatment and government-funded projects. Some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “spread out throughout the whole country” for the distribution of research benefits and “disease which is not still discovered.” Spelling errors, including “affort,” “sufficent” and “goverment,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of expressions for research funding and outcomes, and check spelling and collocations during revision so your ideas are easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer conditional or relative clauses, for example, “because if government should spend on these projects then…” and “a person can develop a sense that if he will be able to succeed…”. These attempts show some variety, but complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors can make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “these research should,” “the result of these experiment will,” and “government have not sufficient fund,” where agreement, number and verb forms are not controlled. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction, as in “should must give free treatment.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time and check agreement and verb forms.
