Student answer (Band 5.5)

In todays world, most of the medical research programs are sponsered by private institutions.

This essay contends that these research projects should be funded by the government authoroties.

Government collects taxes from the citizens therefore it should be the responsibilty of the authoroties to intoduce or fund medical related projects. Moreover, medical research programs funding can be challenging for the individuals and the private companies to introduce.

The authoroties are highly responsible for such programs since the individuals pay large amount of taxes as well as they pay full time tution so it is mandatory for the government to introduce research based programs for students. Forexample, when government takes over such fundings then the people as well as the private companies can have a better chance to upgrade side projects.

Secondly, individuals themselves cannot fund for such medical research programs, it can be a tough job for them this is due to the fact that they already pay tution fee which is meant to be funded by government sector in government institutes. For instance, in Russia the research based programs are totally or partially funded by the government authoroties without becoming a burden on the citizens.

Consequently, public faces a great relief if research programs are funded by the authoroties and not become a burden on the private sectors who already partially fund for alot of things for students as well as researchers. It is clearly the hedic of government sector to sponser such projects for their youth betterment and develpment. We should always support our authoroties and appreciate them for doing such funding partially or fully.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you argue that governments should fund medical research, and you give relevant reasons about tax contributions and the financial limits faced by individuals. The reference to government-funded research in Russia also provides an example. However, the task asks you to consider whether research should be funded by private companies, individuals, or government, and the discussion focuses mainly on government and individuals. Private companies are mentioned, but their role and the reasons they should or should not fund research are not explained. Several points, such as the link between tuition fees and medical research funding, are also unclear or insufficiently developed. Address all three options directly and explain each reason with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a concluding paragraph. Sequencing words such as “Moreover,” “Secondly,” and “Consequently” help signal the direction of the argument. However, progression is not always clear because ideas repeat: the claim that individuals cannot fund research appears in both body paragraphs, while the connection between taxes, tuition fees and research is difficult to follow. Some linking phrases are used mechanically, and the conclusion introduces the broad claim that people should “always support” authorities rather than neatly summarising the argument. Organise each body paragraph around one distinct reason, use clearer references between sentences, and ensure that each example directly supports its paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “medical research,” “funded,” “private companies,” and “government authorities,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “medical related projects,” “research based programs,” and “the hedic of government sector.” Repetition of “fund,” “government,” and “programs” also limits flexibility. Spelling errors—including “sponsered,” “responsibilty,” “authoroties,” and “develpment”—are noticeable and reduce the overall accuracy of the vocabulary. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing research investment, public funding and private-sector contributions, and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “This is due to the fact that they already pay tuition fee” and a conditional structure beginning “when government takes over.” The central argument is usually understandable, but sentence control is uneven. For example, “Government collects taxes from the citizens therefore it should be the responsibility…” joins two independent clauses without suitable punctuation, and “individuals themselves cannot fund …, it can be a tough job” has a similar comma-splice problem. Articles and number are also inconsistent, as in “a large amount of taxes” and “tuition fee.” Use full stops or conjunctions to separate complete ideas, and practise accurate article and singular/plural forms while retaining a mix of sentence structures.
