Student answer (Band 6.0)
Research projects are an essentuial part of a medical curriculum. Because they provide insights into the major technologies and methods used to perform them. These projects are currently being funded by private companies. In my opinion, research should gain financial benefit from both the government and private companies. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss my opinion on why I believe that the government is equally as important as the private sectors.
Research projects help medical students in a number of ways. These eventually build a strong foundation of the theoritical topics and strenghten students' overall academic profile. Hence, these should be funded in sufficient amount to contribute to innovations. A considerable number of projects are now being supported financially by private sectors. These contribution is helpful in developing countries. As, the government is busy providing funding for other aspects of the nation such as military, agriculture, etc. These private sectors provide both guidance and financial support to the project. For instance, in India, a higher number of private companies give funding to medical projects in colleges. This assistance eventually builds entrepreneurship skills among individuals and help in their overall development.
On the other hand, the government play a crucial role in this matter. Although the government has many aspects to look upon, scientific domain has a major influence on the nation. For instance, in the USA, the government provides enough money to the research projects, which eventually makes the nation known as a research hub in the medical science. The government holds a higher position than the private sectors. Guidance and fincancial assistance from certain stage would be significant for students as they recieve recognition as a reward. Furthermore, this assistance will also establish a healthy relationship between students and the government.
In summary, the research projects play a vital role in the overall development of a medical student. Althogh private sectors are providing funds to the projects, additional support from the government can boost the speed of the projects and make the project more reputed among the others. In my opinion, the co-operation between the private sectors and government can ultimately contribute to major scientific breakthroughs. These can further strenghten the overall profile of the nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you argue that private companies and government should both fund medical research, and you address the roles of each. The examples from India and the USA help make the discussion relevant. However, the response focuses substantially on benefits to medical students and their academic profiles, rather than explaining the wider value and priorities of medical research funding. Some claims, such as the government being occupied with “military, agriculture, etc.” and private funding building entrepreneurship, are asserted without much explanation. Develop these points with specific reasoning—for example, how public funding can support research with limited commercial returns, while private investment can accelerate product development. This would make the argument more fully supported and balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on private and government support, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “In summary” make the progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical, and some connections between claims are unclear. For example, the sentence about government funding leading to the USA becoming a “research hub” needs a clearer explanation of the cause-and-effect link. The opening fragment beginning “Because they provide…” also interrupts the flow. Connect ideas more explicitly and vary transitions so that relationships are clear without relying mainly on signposting phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “financial support,” “scientific domain,” “innovations,” and “scientific breakthroughs,” which allows you to discuss the subject. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “holds a higher position” and “establish a healthy relationship.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, and spelling errors are noticeable: “essentuial,” “strenghten,” “fincancial,” and “recieve.” Phrases such as “private sectors” and “the speed of the projects” do not express your meaning as naturally as “private companies” and “the pace of research.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common academic collocations, and choose precise terms rather than formal-sounding phrases that are not idiomatic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concessive clause beginning “Although the government has many aspects to look upon” and sentences using “which” and “as.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening “Because they provide…” is a sentence fragment, while “These contribution is helpful” has a number-agreement error. Other examples include “the government play” and “help in their overall development,” where the verb forms do not agree with their subjects. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “As, the government is busy…” Aim to make each sentence complete, check subject–verb agreement, and use punctuation to separate clauses accurately. More consistent control of these patterns would strengthen your varied sentence structures.
