Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the topic by comparing private companies with government-funded research and give a relevant concern: private firms may charge prices that lower-income families cannot afford. However, the response only partially answers the choice in the question. Individuals are mentioned in the opening but not discussed, and your final view that “both are good” does not clearly explain which should carry out research or how the two approaches should work together. The ideas about trained staff, government investment and lower prices are relevant, but they are asserted rather than explained with specific examples or clear reasoning. State your position directly, address all three options, and develop each main point with a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, a paragraph about private companies, a paragraph about government institutions, and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “On the other face” also shows an effort to guide the reader. However, progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded into long, loosely connected sentences, and the conclusion does not clearly follow from the comparison. Connectors such as “in this way” are used without a precise link to the preceding point, while repeated references to “this project” make relationships unclear. Use one main idea per paragraph, order supporting details logically, and use clear references and transitions to show how each point supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research,” “trained staff,” “government,” and “lower price,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, for example “nutrition describe new explanition,” “school of thought,” and “healthy revinew.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “win in this battle” for completing research successfully and “sell these project” for making research or treatments available. Build a more accurate set of phrases for funding, conducting research, affordability, and public benefit, and check spelling and word forms carefully. This will make your ideas clearer and more appropriate to an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You try to form longer sentences and use clauses to explain reasons, as in the sentence about companies hiring trained staff. However, these attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation can make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “they do They best but they required” shifts tense and has an unclear structure, while “government could provides” has incorrect verb agreement and form. Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, including the opening and the paragraph about private companies. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “which,” or “although.”
