Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 4.0)

In current time, private companies provide budget for a significant number of medical research projects. From my perspective I partially believe that research should be carried by government. Because government should responsible for that but individuals and private companies also helps them in carring out medical researches.

The government should have responsilbility to carry out different medical researches for human health and also provide some proportion of thier budget for it.

In pakistan medical numerous medical research are done and some are in process.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You state a position—“I partially believe that research should be carried by government”—and mention that private companies and individuals can also help. However, the response addresses the question only minimally: it does not explain why government should lead, compare the roles of the three possible funders, or develop a clear argument. The reference to medical research in Pakistan is relevant, but “some are in process” gives no example or supporting detail. The response also falls well short of the required 250 words, leaving the task substantially incomplete. To strengthen your answer, explain your position with specific reasons, develop each point, and include a relevant example showing how funding choices affect medical research.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic sequence: you introduce the topic and your view, then add a point about government responsibility and a brief reference to Pakistan. This gives the reader some sense of direction. However, the response is too brief to establish a developed progression, and the ideas are not clearly connected or grouped into purposeful paragraphs. The opening sentence beginning “Because government…” is a fragment, so the relationship between your opinion and its reason is unclear. The final sentence introduces an example but does not explain how it supports your argument. Use a clear introduction, separate body paragraphs for your main reasons, and a conclusion; connect ideas with accurate linking phrases and explain each example.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “medical research projects,” “private companies,” “government,” and “human health,” so the subject is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a significant number.” However, the range is narrow and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “provide budget,” “medical researches,” and “carring out.” “In current time” is also an unnatural expression. These issues make the writing less precise, although the main meaning can usually be understood. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for discussing funding and responsibility, and check spelling and whether a noun is countable before using it in the plural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with an attempt to give a reason using “Because.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but the sentence “Because government should responsible for that” is incomplete and lacks the verb form needed after “should.” There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “individuals and private companies also helps them,” while “The government should have responsilbility…” attempts a fuller structure but does not demonstrate much variety. The short response provides limited evidence of control across different sentence types. Practise complete sentences with modal verbs, subject–verb agreement, and articles, then combine related ideas using accurate subordinate clauses. Proofread punctuation so that reasons are joined to complete main clauses.
