Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe the government should lead medical research, while private companies can also contribute. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including research into tuberculosis and companies developing vaccines. This meets the task, but the ideas are not developed equally. The point that government funding can make treatment affordable is relevant, yet the explanation of how this would work remains general. Likewise, the claim that private firms may serve wealthier families is repeated without a specific example or fuller explanation. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits and limitations of each funding source in more detail and connect each example directly to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The contrast between government and private funding is also signalled by “On the one hand” and “on the other hand,” so the reader can follow the broad direction of the argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: several points are repeated, especially that government should take responsibility and that research should benefit low-income families. Some links are mechanical or unclear, and sentence boundaries are often difficult to identify, as in “Because, the government should provide the moneyfor research. it can focus ob diseases.” Use one main idea per sentence, remove repeated claims, and make references such as “it” and “there” clearly identify the subject.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “medical research,” “tuberculosis,” “treatments,” “vaccines,” and “low-income families.” These terms help communicate the main argument. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts of the response difficult to understand, such as “significate role,” “advanced medical technology,” and “benefit provide.” Some key words, including “government,” “research,” and “families,” are repeated frequently. Build a more accurate range of topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. You could also use precise phrases such as “fund clinical research” or “make treatments more affordable” rather than repeating general references to providing research or benefits.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrastive structure beginning “Although private companies…” and a conditional idea about diseases affecting poorer people. However, control of sentence structure is weak, and errors often make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “Because, the government should provide the money for research” is an incomplete sentence, while “some companies may focus mainly profit” lacks a grammatical link before “profit.” There are also problems with agreement and articles, as in “the low income families is equal benefit.” Use complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement and article use, and practise joining clauses with accurate conjunctions. Clearer punctuation would also help separate ideas.
