Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world, multiple medical research projects are funded by private organizations and institutes. This is because the medical research projects are quite costly to be done so investors are mostly needed to continue running these projects. Mostly, these investors are private companies because they have big capital and a strong buisness mindset.

The medical research projects are significant for the world. They play a vital role in saving many lifes. For instance, if research project is done for cancer cure and has successfully completed it will impact many lifes in positive way. Sometimes, the medical research can also be done for bad purposes. Like you can say that medical research can be done to make unwanted tablets that are harmful to human health.

As of my personal opinion, I think research should be carried by all of them including private companies, individuals and government. This is because they all are good in their own point of view. If I talk about private companies, there are lot of people who work in them and even if someone does wrong others will stop it. These companies have huge bank balance and networth to invest so these are best to take as investors. The individuals are also good to take into account because they can perform well but sometimes as they are single and no one is there to stop them and guide them. However, government is also a good option as an investor.

Overall, I think private companies and government are the best as compared to individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the question by giving a clear overall preference for private companies and government, while also considering individuals. The points about companies having capital and government being an investor are relevant, and the cancer example shows why medical research matters. However, the position shifts: you first say research should be carried out by all three groups, then conclude that individuals are less suitable and that companies and government are best. The reasons for government’s role are not explained, and the risks of harmful research are raised but not connected to a specific safeguard or responsibility. Develop each option with a distinct reason and example, then make your preferred arrangement consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: it introduces the funding context, explains the importance and possible risks of research, and then gives your view. Paragraphing helps separate these stages, and signposts such as “For instance,” “However,” and “Overall” guide the reader. Some connections are less clear, though. The move from the danger of harmful research to the claim that companies can monitor one another is not fully explained, and “These companies” and “they” require the reader to infer their precise references. The final preference also does not fully follow from the earlier claim that all three groups should be involved. Use clearer links between each reason and your position, and organise the discussion around the three possible funders.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “medical research,” “investors,” “cancer cure,” and “human health,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “big capital,” “huge bank balance,” and “good in their own point of view.” Repetition of “medical research projects” and “good” also reduces flexibility. There are spelling errors in “buisness” and “lifes,” and “networth” is not the appropriate form in this context. Build a more precise range for discussing funding, oversight, and research outcomes, and check spelling and collocations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “if someone does wrong others will stop it,” and most of the message remains understandable. However, some sentence patterns are incomplete or awkwardly joined. “Like you can say that…” is a fragment-like construction, while “if research project is done … and has successfully completed it” has unclear structure and missing grammatical elements. Articles and agreement also need attention, as in “if research project” and “there are lot of people.” Add commas after introductory clauses, and practise forming complete conditional sentences with a clear subject and verb. More accurate control of these patterns would make your reasoning easier to follow.
