Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the modern era, foundin medical projects by private companies has become increasingly common. I firmly agree with the view research should be carried out by government due several compelling reasons. This essay noy only elaborate on my viewpoint but also provide relevent example to support it.
To commemce with, one of the most significant reason is that the medical research founded by government can have easy access to evetyone. This primarily because it can be free of cost so everyone can get access easily. In other words, private companies are charging too much to public their research. Foe instance, the medical research about covid was founded by government that was the main that was free of cost to everyone. So, the medica research should carried by government to make it free of cost for every individual.
Moreover, another crucial factor to consider is that government can have better research than private companies. This is due to, there is no restrict of budget and other resources for government. For example, many governments making research to solve the problem of cancer without having restriction of resources. Thats the main why the research from government can have better results.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that medical research should be funded by the government because it can make medical discoveries more accessible to the public and support research into diseases that private companies may overlook due to limited financial benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you argue that government should carry out medical research, and you give two relevant reasons—public access and the availability of resources. The conclusion also restates your view and adds that governments may support research into less profitable diseases. However, the response is short of the required 250 words, and the ideas are only partly developed. For example, the COVID example does not explain what research was funded or how this made treatment or findings accessible; the cancer example is also a broad claim rather than specific support. The task asks you to consider who should conduct research, so briefly comparing government funding with private companies or individual researchers would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “To commence with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help signal this progression. However, some connections are mechanical, and the reasoning within paragraphs does not always flow clearly. In the first body paragraph, the move from free access to private companies “charging too much to public their research” is unclear, and the COVID example is difficult to connect to the claim. The second paragraph repeats the idea that government has fewer resource restrictions without showing how this leads to better research. Use clearer cause-and-effect links and develop each example so it directly supports its paragraph’s main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “medical research,” “resources,” “cancer,” and “accessible,” and phrases such as “compelling reasons” show an attempt to use more formal language. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “foundin medical projects,” “private companies are charging too much to public their research,” and “the main that was free of cost.” Spelling errors such as “relevent,” “evetyone,” and “commemce” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations such as “fund medical research,” “make findings publicly available,” and “access to research outcomes,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “This is due to” and a relative clause in “research that was founded by government.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and prepositions sometimes make meaning unclear. For example, “I firmly agree with the view research should be carried out by government” needs a linking word and article, while “the medical research should carried by government” is missing an auxiliary verb. “Many governments making research” also needs a finite verb form. Practise building accurate sentences with “that,” “should be,” and correctly formed present-tense verbs before adding more complex structures. Proofread each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
