Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a relevant response and state a preference for government involvement, while also recognising that private companies and individuals can contribute. The Canada example supports the government-funding point. However, the position is not fully clear: the introduction says government “should also” be responsible, but the conclusion does not explain whether it should lead or simply share responsibility. The private-company benefit is mainly described as increased popularity and business, and the point about individual donations is brief; neither is developed with a specific example or explanation of how funding affects medical research. The response also falls 18 words short of the required minimum, limiting the space available to develop and support the ideas. Clarify which funding model you favour and extend each main reason.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting different sources of funding, and a conclusion. The contrast markers “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the shift from private support to government responsibility, and the Canada example is placed in the relevant paragraph. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, with repeated transitions such as “To explain” and “Additionally,” rather than a clear chain of reasoning. Some links are also unclear: the discussion of individual donors appears within the private-company paragraph, and the relationship between company funding and public benefit is not made explicit. Use topic sentences that group related ideas, then explain each point before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of task-related vocabulary, including “financial aid,” “research centre,” “authority,” and “development,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural. Examples include “financial help to the medical research projects,” “enhance their business markets,” and “a high income families”; these phrases do not express the intended ideas accurately or idiomatically. There are also repeated references to “research centre” and “provide financial help,” which restrict variety. Aim for precise collocations such as “fund medical research,” “raise a company’s profile,” and “support research institutions,” and check spelling carefully, including “years,” “essay,” and “companies.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional sentence: “if the company gives a financial aid … it will become most popular.” This shows an effort to explain cause and effect, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, errors are frequent, particularly with articles, agreement, and verb patterns. For example, “a private companies” has an article and plural mismatch, “government should also responsible” is missing a form of “be,” and “governments have …” shifts awkwardly to “government has.” The sentence “it is possible for only a high income families” also has incorrect article and number agreement. Improve accuracy by checking each sentence for a subject and correctly formed verb, then review articles and singular/plural nouns.
